"You have to get up. Nina wouldn't have wanted you to mope about like this..." Trevor grunted as he tried to pull me out of bed.
"Leave me alone, Trevor." I whispered while jerking my hands away from his reach. I crossed my arms and returned my gaze to outside the window.
"It just happened yesterday Trevor, let her have her space." I heard Kat quietly tell Trevor while pulling him out of the room. The door shut quietly and I sighed.
It had been only yesterday that Nina was...killed. Only a few days after I lost my little sister and her dog.
We had just arrived to the building where they were guarding Mr. Tucker. We had wanted to visit, but some alchemist had killed both Nina and Mr. Tucker.
I wish it could just go back to the way it was. With no dull moments, no sadness, and especially no quietness. I guess this is the only time I can hate the silence, because my thoughts are starting to eat me alive.
I just need a distraction....anything could work. I got up from where I was sitting. They had put me in my apartment located near the East HQ for a short dismissal and I was honestly thankful for that.
I walked around my room and suddenly, some red hair caught my eye.
I looked back to where I had seen it and saw a family picture. In it, were Trevor and I when I was ten along with my Uncle's family. My little cousin Sari was grinning at the camera as she put bunny ears behind my head. She would be what? Nine now? Yeah. If only she and Nina could have become best friends.
I smiled slightly at the thought before a knock on the door caught my attention.
"Come in." I called out.
The door creaked open slowly and then shut as the person entered.
"I would have expected you to turn on the lights already. I haven't seen you this depressed since a few years ago."
I clenched my teeth at Roy's words. My hands balled into fists as I whipped my head around to face him.
"Well then you clearly don't know that much about me or how much some people mean to me. Unlike you, I can't ever forget a face that I let die." My hands found their way around his collar, unintentionally pulling him up on the balls of his feet.
"Alexis, you need to calm down. You need to understand that what happened wasn't your fault." His hands softly covered mine and pulled them away from where they gripped his collar.
"YES IT IS!!! She was just a little girl, an innocent little girl, and I... I let her die." I whipped my hands out of his grip before walking back and sitting in my window seat. I returned my attention outside, ignoring everyone once more.
He let out a deep sigh and his footsteps grew louder as he walked to where I was sitting. Roy grabbed my shoulders and turned me around to where I was facing him.
"What are yo-" but I was off when he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into a hug. My arms were glued to my sides as rested his chin on my shoulder.
"I do care, but death is apart of life, especially as a soldier. You don't need to be so strong, Alexis. Sometimes you just need to let it out instead of bottling everything inside of you. I'm here for you, I've always have been and always will."
My eyes widened and I couldn't help but let a small tear slide down my face. I snaked my arms up around his neck and returned the hug.
But sadly, our moment was ruined a bit too soon. The telephone on my nightstand started to ring loudly, emitting a sigh from both of us. I unwrapped my arms from him and walked over to pick it up.
