'I can't.'

Loki moved towards Savannah's bed, and lifted a corner of the duvet.

'What are you doing?'

Loki looked confused. 'This is the same thing we have always done.'

'Why?'

'I used to comfort you if you had nightmares.'

'I don't believe you.'

'Very well, then. If you need me during the night, call. I will always come.'

'I'll bear that in mind. Now, leave.'

That night, when horrific visions haunted Savannah's dreams, and she awoke suddenly, tangled in her blankets, and sweating and shivering and shaking, she did not call for Loki.

He came anyway.
