Colin walked toward the school. It wasn't much but a definite improvement from a school in a ditch. The wall were planted in the schools colours. Purple and the logo was enblazed upon the office wall. He slung his Herschel bag over his shoulder and took a great step forward. Into battle he thought. He walked toward the office. Once inside a lady with a sickly sweet smile sneered at him looking like she had the key to his doom. She could've been right.
"Um, hi. Colin. Colin Farewood. I'm new today. I'm in year 9 here." Colin says trying to get her to type on her computer. She gives him a final stare and turns around. "Right, Colin you say, ah here you are. Mr Barrinsheer's I believe. Good at science huh?" She stares at him as if she's determining his worth.
"Um yeah." He says unsure of where to go next. Two boys walk into the office. One with wild brown hair and the other with wild blond. Both tall, one looks slightly dazed and another like he's thinking about something.
"Drake, Austin. This here is the new guy Colin Farecloth. Show him around, don't make fun of him and don't make him come back here." The smiling lady turned her smile into a grim frown and turned her ruffled short hair back to her computer leaving Colin with Drake and Austin.
"Hi I'm drake and he's Austin. He's in ur home room, I'm not. Welcome to St Scott's." The brown haired guy said. He had blond streaks in his hair, possibly dyed. Odd Colin thought. He looked like he enjoyed sport but wasn't too serious about it. His laid back attitude was comforting and Colin could tell he was easy to talk to. The blond haired boy started speaking.
"Yes welcome to the end of your life. Demons will come and take your soul so enjoy." He sensed Austin is a pessimist. He had blue eyes and looked continuously happy when he talked. He had long bright blond hair and walked with a certain dominance in himself.
"Farecloth ey?" Says Drake
"Hmph, Farewood. It's Farewood." Colin says
"What subjects have you got? I have German so I can speak with hitter if he comes back to life." Says Austin with a proud stride.
"I didn't know German was on offer but I chose drama as I love being different characters, commerce and woodwork." He says as we walk along a corridor filled with lockers. Kids were everyone, some significantly different to others. Beautiful girls and girls looking clueless. Boys with a head full of mop top surf hair and boys engaged with only their computer. Yep st Scott's was defiantly high school despite Austin's warning.
After walking along the corridor we reach two doors leading to an outside area full of wooden seats. Drake and Austin lead me to a group of kids chatting to each other near a seat.
"Here's the gang. Everybody here's Colin Farewood he's new and he's gonna be one of us! Introductions await you Colin." He steps back and sits the table and girls and boys alike move toward me.
A girl with light brown hair tucked into a ponytail introduces herself as Erica. "Hi, welcome" She looks at me and Colin can see that she's a person of confidence and she looks like a good friend.
Right behind her, a girl with messy hazelnut hair. "Hey brah, I'm Lucy yeah. Sup." she walks off to join Erica. They look fun.
Next four more girls turn up. One long blond called Clara, brown pixie cut with brown eyes called Melissa, short brown hair in a ponytail called Kate. Kate was very funny she cracked a joke about farts and a small girl who looked like she could take on the world at any moment. She had straight brown hair in a bob and a giant smile on her face.
Her name was Amanda. Next came another girl with a pixie cut. Curly and thick her name was trix. She had a sketchbook with her and I sneaked a peak and they were very good. Trix walked over to drake followed by Amanda. Wonder what's up there, Colin thought. Two more boys came by. One with glasses and one with the fuzziest long hair He'd ever seen in his 15 years of life. Percy and Kevin. Drake said he was the king of blondness. I laughed at that because it was most certainly true.If there was one thing Colin was good at it was reading people. He could tell a story would come from St Scott's.
