Since the Skype conversation about Colin's mystery night, rumors had circled round the group as to what it was. The best was he would kidnap everyone and torture them into watching the teletubbies. Viola wouldn't have minded that. On Saturday they all stood outside in the cold with coats and cardigans fastened.
"This is where we had to meet isn't it?" Melissa asked. Despite the cold she looked quite comfortable in her black cardigan and short shorts. Amanda and Trix were kept under the wings of drake. Viola, Erica and Lucy were busy taking selfies on their phones.
"I knew it. He was eaten savagely but the ghost of Elvis" Austin says. Viola laughs at that remark. A strange shadow came close to the group. A silhouette of a boy walked towards them. The boys breath was visible in the air. Colin stepped forward into the light.
"Gosh, Munchkin! You gave me a hard attack" Melissa clutched her heart. Everyone crowded around Colin and Colin cleared his throat.
"If you would supersede this way, ladies and gentleman." Colin gestured his hand to follow. The time changed to 8 pm on Viola's Nokia. She shoved it in her jeans and ran to catch up. Erica was trotting in sophistication in some rather high boots.A clip clop followed her steps. Colin stopped abruptly in front of the bowling alley. It was closed for the night and a padlock closed the doors.
Colin grabbed some keys from his leather jacket and turned the key. Viola glanced at Austin. Austin gave her a questioning look. Colin walked in and everyone followed.
"Did we just break in?" Amanda asked. Clara and Kate stood at the back of the group with Melissa sharing a private joke, too relaxed to notice the error that could unfold.
"Lets just say the bowling alley and I have a mutual agreement" Colin. We followed him up the steps to the alley. The bowling alley was abandoned and dark. Colin went over and switched on a few lights and the place came to life. Music videos blared on the TV screens above the lanes. The canteen was filled with golden light and fresh chocolates and packets of chips appeared. Bowling balls of all colours were lined on racks. Booths near the alleys had black leather and everyone headed over to one. Viola's mouth was opened wide as she spun round and round to take in the atmosphere.
"You cant abdicate that easily! How is this possible" Viola exclaimed to Colin. Colin went over to the reception and pressed some buttons continuously. The lights dimmed and bursts of color spun around the room. A disco ball was lowered. Two lanes were filled with our names complete with room for a photograph.
"The owner is a good friend of mine, we go practically to the 1600s. " Colin smiles at everyone. "What are you waiting for? The competition is on."
Half an hour later, Colin carried over with bowls or strangely vibrant lollies. Viola looked at the score board, she was in a intense fight for top score with Erica, at the moment she was heading for victory. We gathered round the booth's table. Our shoes and jackets littered the floor.
"Lets enjoy a dance first" Colin held out a hand to Lucy. We went all occupied the large wooden floor and we began to dance to some indie dance track. Austin moved his casually to the beat, Amanda busted some killer moves. Viola started the sprinkler and everyone joined in. Viola changed her move to moving her and into a box, a ripple effect initiated. They danced well into two hours. Even Drake got into it.
Trix practically fell on drake he pushed her back up and she swung on her feet and he twirled her. They laughed. Viola grabbed her scarf and Melissa and V engaged in a crazy twists and turns together wrapping each other with the scarf.
After two hours they began to drag their weary bodies to the booth back to the vibrant lollies.
"Text your caregivers! Well be staying here tonight" Colin announced.
"Here?" Viola grabbed her phone out. She looked around at everyone. They had begun texting in delight. Something didn't seem right to Viola but in the end she texted.
"Ill get some hot food soon but lets start with a sugar rush" Colin held out a bowl. hands reached for the spectrum of colors within seconds they were digested. Viola suddenly felt light-headed.
"Did you ever think what would happen if everyone stopped farting?" Katie said staring at the disco ball.
"Probably smell heaps better" Clara laughed almost knocking Melissa off the booth. Trix was glancing at Drake and messing up his hair. Amanda was messing up her hair. It was odd.
"We are in a bowling alley" yelled Lucy in a blank voice.
"Im winnng too" Erica yelled to no one in particular.
Austin suddenly sat next to Viola. her leaned his head to one side. "Viola, go out with me?"
"Haha, no" Viola replied
"pleaseeee" He persisted.
"Noooooo" Viola head was spinning. Everyone was acting absurd. Well more than usual she thought.
"Whoops, that why they're from Brazil" Colin cringed as lucy fell on top of him. Viola began to feel a powerful urge to dance on the table.
"Your right Colin, well never get this moment again!" Viola yelled to the heavens as she danced to a energetic pop song.
