Back at the hotel, Colin let Rick take the rest of the afternoon shifts as Colin fell briskly on top of the starchy, springy bed. Dust sprang from under the covers and into the light, the particles scattering as the wind came into the room. 'They're going to find out sooner or later, I've got to tell them. No I do need to tell them. I don't care if they hate me they need to know. At least Lucy and viola do.' Colin thought. He tossed and I urged across the bed eventually ending up on the floor in a heap. Colin sighed and tried to stand up but his foot was caught on something cold. He reached around and his foot was under the bed.
Colin looked where his foot had been and a small metal device was glued to the wooden stem holding up the bed. It was black and about 3 cm in size. It had four button all black and a red flashing light came from the top. It had a circular disk in the middle. It was a camera! Colin ripped it from the bed and through it out the window in anger. It landed in a passing waitress water jug. Colin quickly hid under the window sill as the girl looked up to see what had happened. After a minute she continued down the path to the restaurant with the camera still bobbing in the water jug.
Colin slid down to the ground and leaned against the wall. Sweat poured down his brow. Anger surging in his muscles. Heavy breathed illuminated the air around him. Fists clenched Colin tried to make some sense of his predicament. Colin could end this once and for all if he gave up, he could fight back and literally beat the truth out of Rick. Colin knew at the back of his mind that Rick was only trying to help him as he always had.
Colin sat there for three hours. He finally got to his feet and started moving around the room softly making sure he felt around every nook, cranny and corner. Colin couldn't rest until he found all cameras. Colin was climbing on top of the bed reaching for the arc in the roof when Austin and Drake opened the door.
"What the hell are you doing?" Austin asked glancing up at Colin. Colin refused to look down at them as he was too focused on not falling.
"I am trying to find tiny little spy cameras all around the room because someone is trying to hurt me and all of you. Possibly kill me really." Colin nudged a shelf and two old, ratty books consisting of mould spores fell on Drake and Austin's head. Slight groans came from their mouths shortly after large 'bonk' noises hit something. Colin chuckled losing his grip on the bed and falling catching his sock on the end of the bed leaving him dangling by his feet facing the two boys.
"See this is what surfing does, it lets the sun and sea water through to your brain and fries it. That's why us cool guys prefer jumping off jetties." Drake said poking Colin as he swung slowly. Colin shaggy brown hair was messier than usual.
"Shut up Drake. Anyway, crazy-boy, while you've been playing mission impossible, the school said their picking us up tomorrow morning via bus. Were taking the train back to school this time. So stop being insane and come pick up the pay checks with us from Matty." Austin pulled Colin off the bed and chucked the books on the bed.
"You forgot the best part! Andy coming back to school with us!" Drake stated walking out the door.
"No the best part, is our train escort is called Madeline." Austin sniggered hit Colin on the back. Colin noticed something strange as they walked down the corridor. Many of the hotel doors were wide open. Colin glanced through the doors. One person was sitting on the hotel bed with their legs crossed. Their was an incurring similarity in each. They were all sitting in the same place starring at him!
Colin started walking faster, Drake and Austin running along with him. No matter which door he looked at each guest was looking at Colin dead on straight in the eyes. Colin started sprinting, as Colin ran he saw each guest started getting up. It was like a slide show. Slowly they all seemed to be getting to the door.
Colin skidded on the marble floor and grabbed the handle of the stairs and jumped landing his feet on the railing skidding down the flight of stairs. Drake and Austin looked at each other in astonishment but sensing Colin knew something was wrong they followed in brisk haste.
Colin jumped from the rail landing two feet in front of two overweight elderly ladies. They scoffed and moved on. The rest of the group were already at the reception. The girls rushed to meet him.
"That was awesome" Kate said genuinely. "So James bond" Viola commentated. Mel appeared with Rick under her arm laughing at a joke had made. Colin ignored them and advanced to the desk where Matty was typing away.
"Is there anyway we can catch that train by today. Its urgent. " Colin said.
" Hey its one day off school mate. Calm down" Erica assured him. "Plus I need to Zac again" she whispered to Lucy. " he showed me how to do a front flip on the giant trampoline today" Erica smiled.
"Colin what's wrong? " Viola touched his arm.
Colin looked at her for a minute and drew her close and whispered something in her ear. Her eyes widened and she stepped back. She seemed to be contemplating something. Finally she looked at Colin and everyone else.
"Matty can we have our cheques now, we have to cut this trip short" Viola breathed eyes meeting Colin's.
