Colin woke to a rude awakening. Rick was standing over Colin bunk with a huge bucket of water. Colin started to make a sound but Rick moved his strong arms swiftly and the bucket of water splashed onto Colin's bed. The water was cold and salty. Colin tried to slash back at Rick but fatigue came back over him.

Drake and Austin woke up and looked around to see what the commotion was. Drake's hair was messy and the brown streaks of hair covered his eyes. Austin's bright blond hair was messy as always and his blue eyes darted around the room.

"Colin, the surf waits for no one." Rick grinned. Colin looked at his friend.  Colin was having a hard time coming to terms with Rick being here. Rick knew what he had done. It was like one day his best friend decided to drop everything and suddenly it was okay to pick up where he left off. Colin wasn't so forgiving, so easily.

"I'm guessing you've already started then" Colin pushed his wet hair back and stepped out of bed. Colin threw his back to the future t-shirt off and walked slowly to the small bathroom near he door. Drake groaned and turned over in his bed. Rick grabbed two boards and opened the door waiting for Colin. Colin nodded a quick goodbye to Austin and gave a annoyed look at Rick.

Rick and Colin headed down the corridor. Passing the girls room, they heard a bustling sound. Rick gave Colin a questioning look and Colin returned a awkward glance. All of a sudden out of door 513 Lucy fell on the floor in her short pyjamas and Viola was holding her leg. Lucy was half on the ground half-hanging out of the door. Colin gave Viola a questioning look. She was wearing a fadd blue top and black pyjama shirts. Rick peered inside and Erica and Trix were looking equally awkward with their hands in the air.

Viola looked at the two boys and seemed to realize an explanation was in order. Viola's thick hair was at her sides and Lucy's brown eyes gave Colin a wink.

"Hey, surf instructing is starting early hey?" Viola said casually, Lucy still within an arm. Rick gave her a skeptical look.

"Oh, this. Well you know how it is. Mornings." With that Viola quickly slammed the door pulling Lucy in with her.

Colin looked at his black watch. The clock hands read 6:40. The two boys with boards walked along the corridor and down the majestic steps without another word. The beach wasn't far from the Hotel. The sun was just starting to rise and the gentle rays of sunlight touched Colin's skin.

They dashed across the road and Colin could smell the sea spray and a mix of gasoline. Across the road the sand opened into a path. Colin and Rick ran down the path. The beach was calm and the swell kicked up the back. Rick and Colin went to the near by beach shack and unloaded tow stripy beach umbrellas and five foam boards and two first aid kits.

Colin found two tatted deck chairs and set them up under the umbrella. Rick pushed the umbrella into the sand. "So your girlfriend and your new best friend  hey"

"Haha, well they're usually a little better composed. I think its the hotel vibe." Colin said making a sandcastle in the sand with his feet.

"Excuse me, is this the surf instructors?" Colin and Rick shot up from the chairs and a 25 year old women with black hair and a red wetsuit was standing before them.

"Reporting for duty" Colin assured her. The women laughed.

"I hope so as im employing you. Im Sophie Medleth." The women walked around their setup looking at their boards.

"They'll be kelly slater's in the water soon" Rick grinned. Sophie clapped her hands together in happiness.

"I'll look forward to staff diner then" Sophie started to walk off. Colin grabbed a board and ran into the sea. The sea engulfed his thoughts.
