Rick and Colin had headed off early to the surf. As the girls walked to the dining room for breakfast they all looked at each other's attire. The night before, Matty had given each of the girls a maid outfit and Viola a apron. Viola also saw her give the boys bright blue polo shirts with the Hotel's logo. Drake and Austin weren't joining the girls as neither Amanda not Lissa could get them out of bed.
The dining area was quiet for 8 o'clock. The girls didn't clock on till 9. Viola's maid outfit was uncomfortable. It wasn't traditional at least. Each girl had a light blue blouse and the choice of black jeans or a matching blue skirt. Trix, Viola, Kate,Clara wore the pants and Amanda, Lissa, Erica, Lucy wore the skirts. The girls also had a belt with a skeleton key and a dish cloth for dirty rooms. Viola carried a white cotton apron with her for when she swapped to the kitchen after lunch.
"Early mornings are a small price to pay for some money!" Tris said. It didn't sound like it addresses the group. More herself.
"This is the same time we go to school. We didn't even need to apply for these jobs." Lissa said. A few pancake stuffed kids in polo shirts gazed at Trix and Lissa's pixie cuts. Viola thought they looked future stuck-up British people but who can tell she thought. The girls found a table in the centre. It was a deep oak round table complete with an arrangement of Frangipani's and salt and pepper.
A girl with dyed blond hair and thick and viola meant thick mascara came over to the girls. She was chewing gum and her face was blotched with makeup.
"Um, hello Susan is it? We'll be working here over the next two weeks." Viola grinned at the girl. No emotion came form the girl. Out of the corner of her eye, Erica had a disgusted look on her face.
"Yeah I don't care. Don't take my shifts. What do ya want?" Her eyes looked sleepy and Viola couldn't see any thoughts folding over in her eyes.
"Alright then. Well I'll have a mango smoothie and a croissant." Susan rolled her eyes and the other girls ordered.
"She's a piece of work hey" viola said but no one was really listening.
"So how are you and Drake going, Trix" Clara asked. Trix looked uncomfortable in her seat and the girls stared eagerly at her. Trix started to say something then retreated brushing her spiked hair to the side.
"Exactly how I want it to be." Trix answered confidently. The girls looked slightly disappointed but smiled encouragingly. Lissa started to say something funny. Trix made a motioning gesture to Lucy, Viola and Erica. Trix pretended to stab her heart.
Dying inside, Viola thought.
"Can I say right now, I like Rick but I don't know. He seems a little full of himself." Lissa said unsure.
" Yes, go out with him please!" Clara chimed in. The girls nodded in unison.
"You would be so cute together Lissa and we go on double dates." Lucy added.
"I think you should but be aware of him still. Colin doesn't trust him after ... Well whatever happened I guess." Viola said but everyone had simply misheard her words as Susan dumped their dishes on the table.
Viola slurped his smoothie and a hit of fresh juice fell down her spine. A sudden thought came to her. With all this gossip the subject would soon turn to her and Aus...
Her thought was interrupted.
"V has Austin asked you out again yet?" Erica asked. Viola felt sick to the stomach with all this talk.
"No but he insists. We are happy how we are. Oh look 8:55 time to get going." Amanda started to process and Lucy quickly swiped the leftovers from everyone's plate onto her mouth. The girls walked to the front desk for instructions from Matty. Drake and Austin were waiting in their two blue polo shirts.
"here you girls are. They couldn't resist our manly charms" drake winked.
"I hope we can use the lawn mowers. I heard those can slice off her human feet." Austin said with conviction.
Clara looked nervous and Kate made a sound of disgust.
"Ladies I'm joking. Depends on the quality and the blades I think"
Viola laughed and quickly noticed a list waiting on the reception table.

"Anyone know how to clean a tennis court?" Drake asked.
"Haha. Or man a front desk and sell things?" Kate guessed.
"I'm sure they'll be older staff to help like our happy friend Susan over there."
Trix shrugged and Amanda and her skipped to their rooms. Austin and Drake trudged off outside the sliding glass doors.
"Trinkets for sale" Lissa yelled happily. Clara and Kate followed her to the gift shop and Erica and Lucy started to walk up the stairs once again. Viola grabbed a cleaning trolley on their way past.
Erica started walking up to the first door and a 16 year old boy with sandy coloured hair and no shirt on found his way out the front door and into Erica's dish cloth.
