Colin was in a predicament. He was still confused over the two girls, Lissa and Lucy. Thinking deeply about it Colin realized he was rather short of money. After the.. Well Colin didn't allow himself to think about it. He tells himself the same thing he told Viola. the secret. Well after that Colin was short on money.
Colin got thinking if he ever eventually asked one of these girls out he would have to pay for an extravagant night. Colin needed a job. Getting one would be difficult as trusting a kid with ... the secret would be hard.
On Thursday they called all the year 9's to the theater. Colin found a seat in the dark blue square seats next to Austin and Drake. A man with a crew cut came to center stage. His white business shirt with ruffled with creases.
Austin whispered to Colin explaining that his name was Mr Manner. Drake nudged Austin and whispered " $5 dollars hes gonna say we have abused the internet" Drake winked and smiled at Amanda who turned round in her seat to the three boys. Viola was next to her and turned around. Austin seemed to sit up a little straighter.
Colin had no money to give away but this teacher didn't have a disappointing expression so Austin agreed. Colin decided to trust his instincts. Colin sat back in the seat and pushed his messy hair back. It only accomplished in a much messier hairdo.
"Good morning students! I don't want to keep you from your invigorating studies but its come to time of year for work experience. Over the past few years, groups of students will be transported to different working spaces around Australia. In groups you work together like you would in most common jobs. Come forward in your select groups and you'll be given your destinations"
A swarm of students crowded around him but the group of us stayed in our seats and waited.
"Am I in your group?" Colin asked no one in particular. Trix started playing with Drake hair. Drake almost fell out of the chair.
"You sure are, well all working together! It ll be so exciting! I wonder where were going" Amanda grinned so large. Erica and Lucy started singing some parody of you-tube. Students were piling out of the theater so we sent Lissa down to Mr Manner to get our destination. The thing that Colin was excited about the most was a chance at some real money.
No qualifications required! Lissa came bounding back up the steps to their spot. "Well guys..." Her face looked downfallen. We waited for the rest of her sentence.
"Were going to Sydney and were all interning at the Marina Resort!! Well be working in the kitchens and the guestrooms! It'll be so great! We get to go for two weeks!" She squealed in delight.
We all yelled in delight! Colin smiled brightly and Viola winked at him nodding her head. We all filed out of the hall discussing the perpetual possibilities of next week.
