Maya's pov:
It was the second day ,after all the chaos and our relationship getting accepted by his family i was here sitting with his mom sipping on tea,but something feels off..today. Why does everyone keep disappearing? And why is his mom pretending to be so invested in this random serial on TV?.
"Aunty, where did everyone go? Why is the house so quiet?" I asked looking at her.
"Arey, everyone is here you..you enjoy your tea na!! I'll be back in some minutes." With that she rushes off before I could ask any further questions.
Weird.first all his cousins vanished, then from morning I can't seem to find Adhair, disha is also out of sight now his mother if they're planning something i swear I'll—
Before I could complete my thought there was some rustling sound coming from the lawn.curiosity got the best of me as i started to walk it was already evening but no outside lights were on so it was practically dark.
As soon i took a step i hear a loud "SURPRISE!" Making me jump back. The lights turned on upon seeing the lawn was decorated with fairy lights, colourful balloons and a welcome banner.
"What is happening in here?this can't be for me ...can it?! I asked completely in shock .
"Surprise sweetheart, you are officially now the part of our family!! Today's celebration is specially for you." Adhair said smiling widely . "For me? Seriously?! You guys did so muchh..for me." I was literally tearing I couldn't contain myself as i started sobbing.
"Arey bete, don't cry this is all for you ." His maa patted my back engulfing me in a bear hug.
"I...I'm sorry." I broke the hug sniffing and wiping of the tear's and smiled brightly. "Stop crying dumbo, you are already red." Disha said squishing my cheeks.
"Let's start the celebration." His cousins roared with enthusiasm making all of us chuckle.
I looked over my man.. passing him my softest smile.
"Bhabhi ek rasgulla toh khana padega! Tradition hai." Dev responded handing me the plate which is filled with different types of sweet.
With that my mouth was stuffed with sweets. Making everyone laugh.
While everyone was busy dancing and chatting. I was pulled by adhair in a quieter corner.
"Did you like our surprise?" He asked cupping my cheeks. "Like? I loved the surprise i never accepted to be loved and wanted until i met you,God i got so emotional i started sobbing you saw that na." I sniffed trying not cry.
"Ayee..darling no crying i hate to see you cry." He said smooching my cheeks which made me giggle. "I love you ..thank you so much adhu." I said hugging him tightly not letting him goo.
"I love you my sweetheart.. i can go to any depths to see your one smile ." He responded hugging me more tightly, placing his head on mine.
The night ends with his Dadu(grandma)stepping forward blessing me with a warm smile.
"Ab tum humari beti ho. Hamesha khush raho, bitiya." She said while kissing my forehead tenderly. "Thank you dadu." I whispered closing my eyes savouring all the love and blessings.
(While Adhair stands and watches her bond with his family, his heart full as he silently promises to always keep her happy.)
The next morning: Unknown pov:
"Aunty the chapatis are on me.!" Armed with a rolling and blind confidence she announces
Aunty smiled hesitantly "you sure? Do you need my help."
Adhair , leaning by the doorway, smirked. "Maya? Help? This will be fun to watch."
Maya ignored him and started kneading the dough. Soon, her hands were stuck in a sticky mess. "Why does it feel like glue?" she muttered.
Adhair laughed. "Is this chapati or a science experiment?"
"Quiet!" she snapped, throwing a pinch of flour at him. He retaliated, and soon, flour was flying everywhere. Aunty sighed, shaking her head. "These two are impossible."
When maya finally rolled out her first chapati, it resembled a map of India. Adhair held it up dramatically. "Geography lesson, anyone?"
His cousin Dev chimed in, "Looks like a designer chapati to me!"
Determined to prove herself, maya rolled another, but this one tore mid-air. Adhair grabbed it, using it as a veil. "Meet my bride," he teased, earning laughter from everyone.
By the time the chapatis were cooked, the family gathered for lunch, all eyes on the "masterpieces."
"Perfectly chewy," Disha joked, biting into one.
Adhair dramatically coughed, "Do I taste love or rubber?"
Maya glared but smiled as Aunty said warmly, "Beta, you may not have made perfect chapatis, but you've brought so much joy to this house. Can't wait to make you my daughter in law ."
Adhair leaned closer to maya and whispered, "And next time, bring those geography chapatis. They're unforgettable—just like you."
The table burst into laughter as maya rolled her eyes, secretly hiding a smile.
