Their moment was interrupted by the shrill ring of his phone. Groaning, he reluctantly moved away from her and reached for his phone on the nightstand.
It was Aadhya.
He answered the call with a sigh. "What now?"
"Bhai" Aadhya’s voice came through with a hint of mischief, "apna romance hogaya toh bhabhi ki saath nashta karne aajavo... I told Badi Ma that she’s with me in my room." She ended the call before he could respond.
Siddh groaned, throwing his phone back onto the nightstand. "I swear, my siblings never let me have a moment of peace."
Sayi couldn’t help but giggle, sitting up on the bed and watching him, clearly enjoying the humor in the situation. He walked over to the curtains and opened them, letting the bright sunlight stream in, casting a warm glow across the room.
"So, this is your room" Sayi remarked, looking around and inspecting the neat space.
Siddh moved toward his wardrobe, but before he could pull anything out, Sayi frowned, standing up from the bed. She marched over to him and, with a determined expression, slammed the wardrobe door shut.
"Uh-uh, mister" she said in a stern voice, pointing her index finger at him. "You are not going to the office today."
Siddh chuckled, clearly amused, and grabbed her finger, pulling her closer. "I’m not?" he teased, raising an eyebrow.
"Good!" Sayi grinned, clearly pleased with herself. "Let me choose your clothes for today."
Siddh raised his hands in mock surrender and stepped aside. "Alright, you’re the boss."
Sayi beamed as she scanned his closet though it didn’t take long for her to frown. "How come aunty allowed you to have so many black clothes?" she asked, her voice tinged with amusement. "It’s all black! Different shades of black!"
Siddh laughed at her expression as she blabbered on, looking at him cluelessly as she sifted through his clothes. Finally, she picked out a cream t-shirt and sweatpants, holding them up to him.
He stopped dead in his tracks, causing her to bump into his back. "Whoa!" she exclaimed, rubbing her forehead dramatically.
"What are you waiting for,go and freshen up"she said looking at him.
"Siddh leaned slightly closer, his smirk widening as he unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, his eyes never leaving hers.
"Do you want to stay and watch me change?" he teased, his voice low and playful.
Sayi blinked for a moment, her cheeks flushing slightly, then quickly ran out of the room. "Just a minute!" she called over her shoulder.
Siddh chuckled to himself, shaking his head as he grabbed the clothes and walked into the bathroom.
But before he could even close the door behind him, Sayi came running back into the room at lightning speed, holding a popcorn bucket and a coke from the mini kitchen in his floor. She set up a small chair and plopped herself down, her eyes wide with anticipation.
"I have never seen a scene like this before, I don't want to miss this" she said, taking a seat as though she was about to watch a live show.
Siddh stood frozen, his face going beet red at her unexpected stunt. His heart raced in his chest. She was seriously going to watch him change?
He couldn’t believe she was so comfortable teasing him like this. The thought alone sent a wave of embarrassment over him.
