Sarah: A week later, the beach was throwing a party. An End Of The Summer Party. Louis automatically invited me to go as his date.

That night I was dressed in a soft sundress that fell to my knees. The fabric was hot pink and yellow striped. When Louis showed up at my house, he was wereing a white and navy blue striped tee shirt. Louis walked with me on his arm, into the sand. The city had put up little round lights over nearly the entire beach. Pretty much the only people there were couples, woman dressed in sundresses and men dressed in casual clothing. I breathed in the scent of the waves. The party wasn't helping how close the summer was to no longer being the summer. In fact, my family was already packing up things, getting ready to leave in a mere week. It made me sick. One week. I wasn't going to worry tonight. I still had a week. That was all that mattered.

On the beach there was a stage, a local band was playing, strumming guitars and singer a cover of one of the summer's hits. Louis took my hand and put one hand on my waist. "You realize this is a fast song right?" I asked.

"I know," Louis said, "I just want to be close to you." I sighed, pressing my cheek to his chest. He was warm.

"Come on," I said. I pulled him toward an ice cream stand. I ordered for both of us, then he paid, even though I told him I could. As we licked our ice cream, we talked, talking about everything. He told me how he was thinking of being a drama teacher when he got out of school, if his work as a singer didn't pan out. I told him how I had recently been thinking of going into criminal justice and becoming an investigator. Louis smiled, then laughed a little, telling me it was perfect. "Well, if you want to be a drama teacher, you won't have to study drama at all. You'll just have to be yourself," I told him.

"What did you just say?" Louis said, snapping his fingers in the z-formation.

"You heard me," I said, mimicking his snapping.

"Uh uh sista," Louis said, moving his neck like a snake.

"Uh huh," I said, laughing. I stumbled through the sand, hoping I didn't just fall over.

Later that night, long after the sun had set, the band began a slow song. The voice of the singer casued us to run into the crowd of dancing couples. Louis took me in his arms and we swayed, barely moving. His arms were strong around me. I felt as though I was floating. It was beautiful. I wished I could be in his arms forever. They were amazing and everything to me at that moment. I looked up at him and kissed his lips. Why could I only have only a week left.
