Louis: When I awoke the next morning I jumped out of bed. It was 8:30. The Rolands left at nine. I ran down the stair and out of the house, not bothering to even put on shoes. I ran straight to Sarah's house, not stopping to catch my breath, check out girls, or even say something to the people who looked at me like I was a complete lunatic. When I reached Sarah's house, I didn't even knock, happy to see the car still in the driveway. I ran straight up to Sarah's room. I found her sitting there, dressed to leave. She was playing on her laptop. She looked up, "Louis. I told you not to come."
"I had to. We can't leave things the way we did," I told her.
"I liked the way we left things," she whispered.
"How am I supposed to get ahold of you. How are we supposed to stay in touch?" I asked.
"That was the point. Is that the way all of these go? Just to leave after three months of perfect love," she asked.
"Please. I want to stay in touch. I want to keep what we have," I said, grabbing her hands.
"No!" she said, "That's the way everything goes. You say you'll stay in touch but you never do. You do for a month, then you stop calling, then I find out you have some new girlfriend on some social network," Sarah said.
"Please," I pleaded.
"Louis don't," Sarah said, "It's over."
"You ready to go sweetheart?" Sarah's dad asked behind her.
"Yes. I can go," Sarah said.
"No!" I sceamed, "You can't leave."
"What's the other option Louis?" Sarah asked. I was quiet, "See? There is no other option."
"Please?" I asked.
"Louis.." Sarah's words were cut off my my lips hitting hers. I didn't care her dad was watching.
"I love you, Sarah. That's why you can't leave," I said. Tears steamed down her face.
"I love you too Louis. But we can't just do this. I'm saving myself from pain later," Sarah said.
"By causing yourself pain now?" I asked. Sarah looked at the room.
"Goodbye Louis," she said. She left, I just stood there. I heard the door slam. I ran, just ran. I ran and once I was outside the car was driving away. I ran after it, my arms flapping. Right now I didn't care if I got hit by a car. It would probably make me feel better.
Sarah: I saw Louis behind us in the rearveiw mirror. I saw him stop, his face covered in tears. I set my head against the window. It was all over.
