Luke's P.O.V.
Early mornings are meant for sleeping, not sitting in the hospital waiting room. Michael was asleep next to me and Alicia was sitting across from me.
"I messed up."
I looked up at her.
"She needed someone. This whole time she needed someone. And I thought I wouldn't lose her if I kept my distance. Now I'm going to lose her like I lost my baby boy. I cared too much and this time around I didn't care enough."
I wasn't sure what to say. As awful as it was to think, she was right. She messed up. But we all make mistakes.
"She never spoke of you but when she came home she would be smiling a lot. And looking out the window I could see you in your car waiting to make sure she was safely inside before driving off. I could see you made her feel important. Then one day she came home in tears. I thought leaving her alone would be the best thing to do. Then a little over three months passed and she was still so sad. That's when I found her letter. And then one morning she came home smiling again. I knew if had to be because of you. You put that smile on her face. You were there for her when I wasn't. And honestly, this day's events aren't something to blame yourself for. I believe you when you say it was all that girl and not you. I believe you."
I didn't want it to happen but it did anyway. The tears flooded down my face and I put my head in my heads, sobbing loudly. I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. I glanced up to see Alicia hugging me.
"She's going to be okay. She's strong."
I just nodded and silently prayed that Alicia was right.
Although somewhere deep in my mind I knew she was wrong.A/N: There will be another update today. This was really short but it was needed. If I wrote the second half in with this chapter it would be far too long.
