Luke's P.O.V.
I shot straight up.
My eyes adjusted to the darkness surrounding me as I took in the room. The bed I was lying in wasn't mine and those curtains weren't mine either. My dresser wasn't blue and bubblegum pink. I didn't have a vanity with a tall bottle of vanilla perfume on it. Those weren't my skinny jeans tossed in the floor.
Nothing in this room was mine except for the clothes on my body and the black Converse tossed on the floor by the door.
Where was I?
I already knew the answer but I was too afraid to admit it to myself.
What had happened?
I sure as hell had mixed conclusions.
Am I going insane? Was it all a dream? I was too confused and it was too late to comprehend anything. So I didn't bother.
I just took off my shirt and tossed it on the floor and sunk back into the warmth of the all too familiar bed and let the darkness come over me."Luke?"
I heard a soft voice and felt a hand on my forehead.
"Luke?"
The voice said slightly louder.
I didn't want to open my eyes. I just wanted to be in this dream forever.
"Luke, I know you're awake."
My eyes snapped open and focused on a red haired beauty looking down at me.
She smiled and placed a soft kiss on my lips.
I sat straight up and that pushed her away.
"What's wrong?" She pouted.
"Annie?"
"Yes Luke. It's me. We've been over this. I told you to stop asking if I'm Annie after I dyed my hair red again. Dork." She giggled.
"You're dead."
Hurt flashed in her eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"This isn't real. Youre dead, Annie. You died in the car accident. I saw it. I saw you. You were so cold. You were dead. Am I going crazy? Am I missing you too much? Is that why I'm having these dreams?"
"Luke, baby, I'm alive. I wasn't in any car accident. Are you okay? Are you having nightmares again?" She was frowning.
I searched her eyes for something to jump out and let me know this was another sick dream.
Nothing.
Nothing at all.
Has I dreamt the whole thing? Annie never really died? What about the part I dreamed Annie had died and it was really me who was dying?
Annie was looking at me concerned.
Was this all a sick joke?
"Luke? Are you okay?"Michael's P.O.V.
I woke up on the couch. The same girl from last time was lying on top of me.
No.
Not again.
I got up, not caring if I woke the girl up.
I ran up the stairs and yanked open the first door on the right. I feared what I would see, or rather, not see.
But there they were.
Both of them.
Together.
Annie and Luke.
He finally did it.
He made it out.
I sighed with relief.
"It's all okay now."
"Really?" Luke questioned.
"What's going on?" Annie was confused.
I locked eyes with Luke.
We had a lot to discuss.Luke's P.O.V.
"Do over? Those don't exist. You only get one chance."
Annie was sleeping upstairs and Michael was downstairs with me.
"But you got a second chance. Actually, you got three. Thanks to me."
"You?" My eyebrows furrowed together in confusion.
"Me. I usually don't give second chances but you messed up. You were hurting so much. I had to do this for you. The first time you messed up by letting her run off. She went over a bend. She suffered and died. You were so broken so I gave you another chance. That's when you woke up on the beach. You went crazy, but you don't remember that. You were scared. You had remembered what happened before your second chance. You ran off the same bend. You didn't suffer. You went into a coma and died while I was comforting Annie. Then your third chance came. Annie was about to run off but you caught her. Finally. And you explained everything. All better. You woke up in her bed. And now you're here with me. You fixed it."
"If I fixed it how come I can't remember catching her?"
"You won't remember any of this soon."
"Why?"
"Why?" He snorted. "Because you just won't. You can't. Second chances, I mean, third chances, don't work like that."
"Are you an angel? My guardian?"Michael's P.O.V.
"Are you an angel? My guardian?"
"Far from it."
"Then what are you?"
"What am I? Great question, Lucas. I'm dead."
Luke sat back a little and studied me.
"You don't look dead."
"My soul doesn't look dead. My body does."
"Dead? You're dead? But you go to school with me."
"I tend to stay at the place I died. Besides, have you ever seen me in any classes? Have you ever seen teachers acknowledge me? Have you ever heard my name on the overhead speakers?"
Luke looked at me. He was taking all of it in.
"I won't remember you will I?"
"Nobody will. I've done what I needed to. My time is up." I said, standing.
"Wait, Michael, how?"
"How? Do you mean how did I die?"
He nodded.
"Ask my mom. She needs to start opening up to someone."
Luke gave me a confused look but my world was dimming. Everything was fading.
"Goodbye Luke."
"B-bye Michael."
I could barely hear his mumbled goodbye as my world faded to black.A/N: I bet NOBODY was expecting that. What do you think? I've been planning this from the start. Michael is Luke's guardian angel. The person who bullied him. Who would be thought he was dead? Please give opinions!
