CHAPTER 2

The maths lesson had already started. I took out my black pencil but it fell to the floor. Robin bent down to pick it up for me, but so did I. Our hands met. I blushed, but was too shy to say anything. I quickly wanted to leave this whole, embarrassing situation so I stood up, but hit my head with the desk. It really hurt.

"Sorry" he said and he gave me the pencil.

"Thanks" I said quietly.

"You're welcome Mary"

Something made me happy in the way he said my name. We both sat down in our desks again.

I'm good at maths. I like it. I hate geometry, though. But the exercises we were doing were quite easy.

"Pssst" it was Robin, "Hey, Mary"

I turned around.

" I don't understand exercise 4..."

"Oh, that one's easy" I answered, "You have this information, you have to find the parallel side, which would be that one, after that you substruct the whole figure to de value of X"

"OK, thanks...a lot..." He smiled

"You're welcome..." I smiled back.

Then, we had biology. I hate it. The teacher is sort of crazy.

Robin started playing a song, hitting his ruler to his desk. He whistled and sang the lyrics in a very low voice. He had a low pitch voice. But, God, such a bad taste in music! I started laughing when I saw the look on the teacher's face.

"Robin! Shut up!"

I tried so hard not to laugh but then I looked at Robin's face, he was kind of mocking the teacher so I couldn't help it. He started singing again. Everybody started laughing. But finally, the teacher got mad and sent him outside the classroom. After a while I realized I was humming a song. I didn't know where I had heard it but it was stuck in my head.

After lunch, we had literature. We were doing some exercises in silence when I started humming the song again. But someone joined me this time. Robin, of course, he was the one who had stuck that song inside my head. I turned and smiled, or laughed, or both, but I was very quiet at it.
