I was with Aby. She wouldn't stop talking about Robin. We were in the café near school. There were quite a few people but not many. I was having a cup of coffee with tons of milk and sugar, and a french toast.
"Robin is so cute! He's the best boyfriend ever! I mean those lips! If you could kiss him you would know what I mean, believe me."
She had no idea what she was talking about. I knew more than her about him. Being with her was more difficult than I thought it would be.
"I really think we have this sort of connection, you know..."
I took the last sip of my coffee. "I have to go." I mumbled and stomped out of the café, without paying attention to Aby's surprised face. Honestly, I had been ignoring her a little bit.
At class I saw Robin but he didn't look at me. Maybe he was afraid.
Roy sat immediately next to me. That day we were going on our date.
"Hey!" He said to me, of course, with a smile on his face.
"Hey!" I responded. Then I saw Robin was staring at us. "So, can't wait for our date tonight..." I said loud enough for Robin to hear.
"Yeah. I'm really looking forward to it" he grinned. His eyes were shining. I wasn't lying. I really couldn't wait for our date. And Roy was a very nice guy.
It was already 9.35.PM. I was sitting at the restaurant, wearing a blue dress with flowers on it. It wasn't too dressy but not to casual either. I had my silver heels on and was wearing red lipstick. The restaurant wasn't fancy so I was OK. There were lots of couples. The walls were light yellow and the floor was made of wood. There were a few paintings and photographs hung up all over the room.
"Sorry for being late..." suddenly I turned and Roy was standing next to me.
"Oh, hi. Don't worry about it."
"I brought you a little something" he said and gave me a purple little box with a white bow on it.
"Oh. You really didn't have to..." I slowly opened it and found a silver bracelet with a violet diamond in the middle. "Wow. Seriously, I...I don't know what to say! Thank you very much!"
"Do you like it?"
"I love it!" I said while he put it on me.
We both sat down and a waiter gave us the cards. We looked at them for a while and then told the waiter what we wanted.
"You're beautiful" he said. I blushed.
"Thanks." After some minutes of uncormfortable silence I decided to say something.
"So... how was everything in California?"
"It was...fine...I guess. But we moved in here because of some stuff at my dad's job."
"Do you like it better here?"
"Yes, I went to a boys-only school, so at first I was kinda nervous I would look... weird. But I made friends easily...Robin helped a lot..."
"Well, I'm glad it came out easy for you."
"Yes. I miss lots of things. But I feel more comfortable here."
"I like it here too. These breadsticks are delicious..."
"Yeah, they're my favorite."
"I bet you said that because you haven't tried the ones at the café near school. They are the best. We should go there sometime..."
"It's a date" he grinned. "Hey, I wanted to tell you that...I really like you and I hope this can go somewhere."
"Yeah, I hope that too." He grabbed my hand and smile. Suddenly Robin popped into my mind. But I had to forget him. He broke my heart, and I was sure Roy would never do something like that.
