"So what happened next?" Aby whispered. We were at her room, sitting on her bed, with hot cocoa mugs on our hands and wearing pajamas. She took a sip. The room was cozy. The walls were light pink and the floor was white. Posters and photos hung from the walls. The bed sheets were pink and fluffy, so our feet were enjoying the pleasant feeling it gave when touching them. There was this fresh smell of vanilla perfume filling the room.
"I left. And I know he's right. I know I should have told him. But when I saw the test was negative...I didn't know what to do. I guess I didn't want to raise up any hopes. I...I was really confused. There isn't a logical explanation for what I did. But I did it. And I know I shouldn't have." She stared at me and nodded.
"Well, I can imagine how he feels. Betrayed. Confused. Hopeless."
"But I don't know what else to do. I love him. I made a mistake but I really regret it. And I know that saying I'm sorry isn't enough but...I'm only human. I don't know how to fix things."
"I see..."
"Oh Aby! You're being such a good friend! And after what I did to you! Oh I'm a horrible person!"
"Actually, I had broken up with Robin so..."
"Yeah but that's not even it. When you liked him I kissed him. That's how I fell in love with him in the first place."
"Yeah, I know."
"You know?"
"Yup. I saw you. I was at the park too. But I wasn't alone. I was with... a girl. When I saw you I panicked. I was with this girl, we were holding hands, kissing. It was a secret back then. So I hid behind some bushes. When I saw you kissing him I got really mad, but I decided not to say anything."
"So that was you in the bushes! I thought I had heard some noises." We stood silent for a moment. I took a long sip from my hot cocoa. "Aby I'm such a mess!"
"I'm sure you'll work things out."
"Thanks Aby." I hugged her tight.
"But I think you really need to take care of something first."
"What?" I asked clueless. She raised an eyebrow in a 'isn't-it-obvious' way.
"Oh. Yes. You're right. Tomorrow morning I'll go to the supermarket and buy one of them. This way I'll know for once and for all."
