I was getting ready for my date with Roy. I had a light pink dress on and a thin golden necklace with a small heart in the middle. I had gloss on my lips, mascara on my eyelashes and pink high heels that made the simple act of walking a challenge. The clock said it was 8.30PM which was fine because our reservation was at 9.00PM.
There were three envelopes next to the door. The window was open so cold wind entered but I had to close it because it was raining a lot. My mother was working on the computer and my dad was reading on the couch.
I put on some more gloss. The house was still and silent. I looked again at the door and saw, next to it, four envelopes. Not three. Four. Maybe I hadn't seen properly before. I slowly grabbed the yellow envelope at the top and opened it.
"We need to talk."
- Robin
My heart was pounding hard as I read over and over again the letter. What could all this be about? What was happening? It was already 8.54PM. I had to go. I put the letter in my purse and went to the restaurant.
I walked into the restaurant after I realized it was next to Robin's house. Roy was already there. I walked towards him. Our table was next to the window pane which was stained with rain drops, it had a white tablecloth and a pot with roses.
"Hi." I said.
"Hey! Wow. You're stunning..." I blushed.
"Thanks."
We sat down. The sky was dark and the moon was shining brightly. There were lots of stars.
A waiter took our order. I couldn't stop thinking about Robin.
"So...how are you?"
"I'm fine." What could that letter mean?
"This reminds me of a restaurant in California. I used to go a lot when I was a kid."
"That's nice." Did Robin still love me?
"Yeah. I would order the same strawberry ice-cream every Sunday." Suddenly my attention went back to Roy.
"Seems like you really miss California." He was silent for some seconds.
"Yes. I do miss California. But you weren't there. There's no place I'd rather be. I want to be here. With you." He looked deeply into my eyes.
"Wow, thanks...that's so nice..." suddenly I got a text message. It was from Aby.
"Robin broke up with me. Please meet me as soon as possible."
- Aby
My heart began to beat really fast.
"Is everything okay?" Roy asked.
"Yes. It's nothing." I smiled and held his hand.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you too." Our faces came closer. I closed my eyes. Robin had broken up with Aby and wanted to talk to me. What did this mean? I opened my eyes. Through the window I saw a figure walking. It was tall and dark. It was Robin. He was walking to his house. Suddenly a tear run through my face. Roy's lips came closer. Everything was suddenly too much.
"Sorry...I...have to...I'll be back in a second..." I stood up quickly and run out of the restaurant.
It was raining hard. I was cold but I had left my coat at the restaurant. My hair was getting wet and my dress was dirty.
I spotted Robin and headed towards him. He was on the front lawn of his house.
"Robin!" I shouted with tears in my eyes. He turned.
"Mary..."
"What are you doing?" my voice broke. The rain was even harder than it was before. "You go and kiss me and then...you kiss Aby and..."
"What?! You were the one that broke up with me in the first place. I had every right to go and kiss whoever I wanted."
"Really? Aby? My best friend? Do you hate me? You love to see me suffer, don't you?"
"What are you talking about? Hate you? You broke up with me, how do you think I felt?"
"You didn't fight for me..." I said crying.
"Wha...?" Robin mumbled.
"You didn't even fight for me." What I was saying not only surprised Robin, it also surprised me. "I loved you. I couldn't be with you." The tears were multiplying. "But you didn't do anything about it."
"I..." there was a long pause. "You're right. I didn't. I...tried to forget you. That's why I kissed Aby. And I thought it would also make you jealous. Then you became Roy's girlfriend and I...I was devastated. I don't know...I just...I mean...you loved Roy and I loved you. I still love you and..." his voice broke.
"I...I love you too. I never stopped loving you." Suddenly we came closer. We started kissing as we once did before. His hand gently pushed my waist closer to his, the rain falling and wetting us. This was what I had always wanted. The kissing became more desperate. I touched his face and wet hair. Tears were still falling through my eyes. Robin opened the main door of his house it was dark and there was no one inside. I quickly pulled his T-shirt over his head while we went upstairs into his room. I couldn't stop myself. He pulled my dress over me. We kept on kissing. My hands were desesperatly touching his bare chest, his body. We laid on the bed and kept on kissing, but harder. His soft lips, his hands running through my body, his love. We lay on the bed. I could feel the heat in his body? His lips went through my neck and then back to my lips. I loved Robin so much. This was just perfect.
