Roy had been a delight. We had gone to the café near school like he promised we would. He had picked me up on Monday to take me to school and bought me a box of chocolates. He told me he wanted to be a doctor when he grew up, that way he would help other people.
We were now having breakfast at the café near school, which had become our "place".
"There is this really cool party on Friday. Maybe we could go with Robin and Aby." He suggested.
"Mhh" I answered. I hadn't talked much to Aby recently and I had crossed looks with Robin. Everything I did with Roy was fine, but I would always imagine what would it been like if I had been there with Robin instead. I didn't dare go with them anywhere.
"Sorry, I think I'm busy on Friday." I added.
"Is everything okay?" He squished my hand.
"Yeah, I'm fine." The corners of his mouth turned up into a smile.
"Okay. Gotta go. See ya later." He stood up, gave me a kiss on the cheek, placed some money on the table and left.
We had already been together for two weeks and we were celebrating it the following day with a romantic date.
I saw that Aby had posted a picture of her and Robin on Facebook, she was hugging him tight with a huge smile on her face while Robin was glaring at her in a get-away-from-me way. I know it was mean to even think about it but maybe Robin didn't like Aby. Maybe he was just using her to make me feel jealous. And it was working. I knew it was wrong to say this but part of me still wanted to be with Robin. I was with Roy but I couldn't stop thinking about him. No. I couldn't. Aby loved Robin. Robin loved Aby. Roy loved me. That's how everything was supposed to be. A text message popped on my phone.
Wanna go shopping today after class?
- Aby
I was just being stupid. After all, Aby was my best friend.
"Yes" I typed. I left the café and headed to class.
