Recap:

And then he was gone like that. It took every bone in my body not to fall, crumpled on the floor.

You LOVE him! Oh my god, what has happened to you woman!

Shut! Up! Shut! Up! I cried, my body finally taking the tumble as the war started again.

“Oh, my little monster.” Voldermort sighed with a twinkle in his eye as he stared me down from across the room.

He was leaning back in his chair, legs crossed and elbow propped on the arm of the chair with his chin in his hand.

“I-I’m not.” I said quietly, still feeling a bit shocked that he’d make such a comment. That he’d act in that manner, so casual.

“I’m sorry?” He asked, the twinkle slowly fading from his eye. He fixed himself, sitting straight up in his seat now watching me.

“I am not.” I pronunciated for him louder this time. I needed to stand my ground if I was to talk to him…I can’t let him get to me…

“Not what?”

Was he trying to be a smart ass or did he just feel the need to play dumb to annoy me?

“Not a monster.” I repeated, trying not to speak through clenched teeth.

“Is that all?” He asked simply.

It’s now that I notice the bemused curiosity hidden behind that normal blank expression. It was in the twitch of his brow trying not to quirk up and the glaze over his unreadable eyes like he was off in some thought or wonder.

“Well, yeah.” I said bluntly. Did he call me something else that I had missed?

“Good,” his words were as short as the time it took for him to come stand by my side. His swiftly took both my hands and pulled me to stand by him. “I’m glad to hear you don’t deny being mine.”

His chest started to rumble and he threw back his head releasing broad, billowing laughs that resonated through the white room while I continued to thrash my hands against him. For being in a dream you’d think I’d be capable of having the strength of an ox, but against him I felt so weak.

“Stop.” The room suddenly became deathly quiet. All laughter and amusement quickly wiped off and replaced with a cold, stony demeanor.

My body instantly froze, unsure and afraid as to how I should react.

“Lynli, come.” He directed me with a guiding hand to a couch I had never seen before.

Almost robotically I instantly started to the couch and took a seat with a ‘plunk’. He came to sit beside me, keeping my hands in his.

I’m beginning to think this guy is bipolar-going from mischievous to blank to curious to cold to…sympathetic?I tried to determine the exact look in his eyes, it was so hard to read; but it was clear it was much more than just nothing.

He slowly released one hand from mine and brought it to my face. First instinct caused me to flinch from his touch, but when nothing happened I opened my eyes to find his hand still hovering there before me, waiting. I slowly relaxed my body and his hand made contact with my cheek, cupping it lovingly.

“I know at first you’re going to hate me and you won’t understand why I’ve done this, but it’s for you. Everything I do is for you. You might not think that now, but trust me. You will and when you do you’ll see that I was right and you’ll thank me. Just wait, you’ll see.”
