"Emo Faggot!" One yelled. "Freak!" The other said. They punched and kicked me until they got bored. They soon walked away but I lay on the cold cement.
My body aching.
I groaned and mumbled, " I wish I could just... Die."
I slowly hobbled up holding my stomach. They had kicked it repeatedly, but it had become a normal thing so I got used to the pain.
I walked home and went inside my tiny house. I slammed the door and sighed.
"Mom! I'm home." I said setting my bag on the table.
No reply.
"Mom?" I said walking into the living room. "Oh my god! MOM!? " I screamed.
She lay in the couch will random pills on the the floor and in her hands. I ran to her and screamed, "MOM! PLEASE WAKE UP! Oh god what did you do?!"
I stair down at her lifeless body. I put my head to her chest and hear nothing. I reach into my pocket and pull out my cracked phone.
I dial 911.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"Hello!? Yes! M-my mom is passed out on the couch and I can't get a heartbeat, I think she over dosed on pills!"
"Ma'am, what's you address?"
"Oh, uh, 164 LakeRidge Blvd House #1455"
"An ambulance will be there in 5 minutes."
"Thank you!"
The ambulance soon arrived and Took my mother away.

I woke up covered in sweat and with tears on my face. I looked over to my alarm clock which read "3:12am" I sighed and got up.
I went to my dresser and picked out a black T-shirt and ripped denim shorts.
I put my headphones in, and listened to music for 3 hours.
By then it was 6:00 so I walked to the bus stop. I was always the first one there. I sat on the bench and admired the graffiti that stained the small walls of the bus stop.
As the bus pulled up an old skinny man smiled at me as I entered. I slightly smiled back and walked to the back of the bus. Still listening to music, we stopped in a neighborhood. A few kids walked on, but then my heart grew.
He was there. Jack. His bright eyes stood out from his black skinny jeans and gray tank top.
He walked closer and closer. Before I knew it he was right next to me.
His lips moved but I didn't hear anything. I pulled my headphones out.
"I'm sorry, what?" I said.
"C-can I sit here." He said with wide eyes. "Oh... Yeah, of course." I scooted over to the window and quickly looked out. He sat down and moved his backpack onto his lap.
"Hey, you're the girl I saw yesterday. W-with the really pretty eyes!" I turned my head and said, " Yeah, I remember you, um... Jack, is it?" I said pretending not to remember his name.
"Yeah! And you're Fluorescent?"
I nodded and smiled.
The bus stopped and the kids began to flood out. "After you." He said gesturing his hands in front of him. I smiled and walked forward.

I went to my locker and saw Alice getting books out of hers.
"HEY!" She screamed. She runs towards me and handed me a paper. "Here's yesterday's homework." I hugged her and said, " God! Thank you! I would have been in so much trouble!"
"Yeah, you would've had to go to detention with Mr. Workshire, he's a little weird. "
We laughed, " thanks again Alice."
"No problem!"

*Time skip to end of the day*

The last bell rang and I walked to my locker.
Buzz
Buzz
I reached into my pocket and got out my phone.
From: Adoptive Mom,

Hey sweetie! I have to work late tonight and so does your father, so I need you to walk home.
Love you! xoxo

I sighed. I was sure to pack all of my books before I left. I hugged Alice and said goodbye.
As I walked home I got a feeling that someone was watching me. Just then a felt a light tap on my shoulder.
I jumped and turned around to see Jack. He was much taller than me so I was facing his chest.
"Jesus Christ Jack! You scared the shit out of me!" I said as I lightly punched his arm.
"Haha sorry. So we're you heading?" He said walking next to me. "Home." I groaned.
"Oh come on! It can't be that bad!" He said putting his elbow on my shoulder. "Oh believe me, it is." I said looking at the ground.
"Well, you should come with me to the coffee shop. It'll be fun! And I'll even pay for you!" He said smiling.
"Fine." I said while trying to hold back a smile.
