"FLUORESCENT! WAKE THE HELL UP!" My mother yelled.
"Ughhhh"
I lifted my head up, but my neck ached.
"Ow! Shit!" I muttered holding the back of my neck.
When I opened my eyes I wasn't surrounded by my sheets and blankets.
I was surrounded by wood, pencils and crumpled pieces of paper.
Realizing that I fell asleep on my desk, I saw that I hadn't finished a page of homework.
I groaned.
I packed up all of my stuff and headed downstairs.
The smell of pancakes and rich syrup hit my nose.
I decided to grab one and head out the door, not making contact with anyone.
As I walked to the bus stop everything was cold, except my hand that held the warm pancake.
Once I finished that I pulled my unfinished homework from my backpack.
I got about have of them done before the bus came. I hopped on and sat down still struggling with the work.
As we approached the school I began filling in random answers.

I walked over to my locker and saw Alice. I smiled and kept walking.
"Hey Fluor! After school do you wanna come over to my house to do homework and crap like that?"
"Yeah, sure." I said looking at her blue eyes.

Time skip to end of the day.

After 6th period, I went into the bathroom.
The door creaked open.
The sound of my footsteps echoed through the empty room. I stopped in front of the mirror and looked at myself.
My hair almost looked dead. I grabbed a few strands and felt.
It was straw like.
My skin was a few shades paler than it usually was.
My eyes almost looked sunken in.
I just looked... Dead.

The stress was killing me.

He'll leave you...
You're not worth his time! Look at yourself!
Your smiley face has worn away! He can see right through you.

The voices in my head whisper to me. I lean closer to the mirror and see that my eyes are now a very dark purple, almost looking black.
I shook my head in disgust.
I was a mess. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I looked down at my wrists and realized that my scars were more visible, due to my now extremely pale skin.

If he knew about your scars he'd leave you right away.
Nobody wants a girl with scars.

"Y-You're wrong!" I said looking in the mirror.

Am I?

My mind was getting the best of me.
I stepped back, so I could see my whole lifeless body.

My arms were like sticks and my fingers were long and skinny as usual.
My collar bones showed loud and clear making me look skeletonish.
My torso was a skinny hourglass shape.
I pulled my shirt up to reveal my hip bones that stuck out.
Scribbles of scratches and scars lined my sides.
My ribs were very visible. I could see every indention between the bones.
By now tears were streaming down my face.

The door swong open to reveal Alice.
I quickly pulled my shirt down. And acted like nothing happened.
"Fluor, what were you doing?" A wave of worry ran over her.
"I was-I- Don't..." I mumbled out. She walked towards me.
"Let me see." She said sternly.
I hesitated, but pulled my shirt up.
Tears filled her eyes and she covered her mouth.

"F-Fluor... I-I had no idea. I'm- Why? Why did you do this?"
I dropped my shirt and she pulled me into a hug.
We sat there for a few minutes before Ms Rein walked in.
"Oh, You two okay?" She said looking at us.
We laughed a little and nodded. She walked away.

"Come on, let's go." Alice said with a smile.

We walked out of the school and to Alice's house.
It was medium size, but very pretty. As we walked through the door, to small children with bright red hair ran over to us.
"ALICE!"
"Who is she?"
"She's pretty!"
"I LIKE TOWELS!"

They both were struggling to speak over each other.
"Alright SHUT UP YOU TWO!" Alice yelled.
They both ran away screaming.

"Sorry about them, they're the twins. Ricky and Marcus, aka the most ANNOYING kids alive."
I laughed and followed her to her room.
We sat on the carpet and pulled our books out.
After 20 minutes Alice said," Soooo! Are you and Jack like a thing now?"
I rolled my eyes, "I dont know. I guess? It's just really complicated."
"Well you two are super cute."
"Hey, Jack invited me to this party are Friday, you should come."
She sighed.
"I dont know if I can, my uncle is coming over on Friday for some reason."
"Oh, that's okay. I just wanted someone there if stuff got awkward."
"Haha, yeah sorry."

Time skip back to Fluorescents house.

I walked into the kitchen and got some real food.
No one was home so I sat on the couch and watched tv.

I looked down at my phone and saw a text from Jack.

Jack: Hey, sorry I wasn't at school. I got pretty sick. I just wanted to say that I love you and I'll see you soon. Xoxo.
I smiled at the text.

Fluorescent: I love you too and I can't wait to see you.

Jack: Fluorescent, I just want you to know that you mean so much to me and I would never hurt you. And if you don't want to go to that party I understand. Xoxo

Fluorescent: Of course I want to go and thank you <3.

I walked up to my room and fell asleep.

Picture of Alice on top.
