CHAPTER 47: ARROGANCE OF AN EGOCENTRIC SOUL(PRIDE)

Rychard

Twelve years ago.

The young Ryder's stump filled their room.

"You are lucky that your mother is not home!"

"My mother is your mother too!" Ryder cried. "And you are wrong, Ryc! Mother is not a murderer!"

"Your mother killed some kid, Ryder! Ever wondered why you no longer went to that school at Sinagtala? That was the reason! Believe me, you are too young to understand!"

"Again, my mother is yours too! And not because I am young does not mean I am wrong. Being older does not make you right all the time! If Mom killed someone then why was she not imprisoned?"

Rychard pushed his brother away, "He still killed some kid, Ryder. No, she killed two kids, its the two of us that she killed!"

Years later when Rychard formed a group with his three friends: Jaxon, James, and Darwin. The four of them founded their gang named Fangs.

Their influence grew among teenage kids then James and Rychard became the leaders of the group. Having them two lead such a gang that is doing nasty stuff at night was never a good idea. Rychard soon fought James for power over the entire group which only tore the group apart. 

It wasn't until the two of them had an altercation with Jaxon that the group had to work together once more.

"Murder someone?" Rychard asked. "The Fangs are not assassins, Jaxon. We may have robbed and scammed some people but we never formed this group to kill!"

"Don't be a goody-two-shoes, Rychard! This group was your idea after all!" said Jaxon.

"Rychard is right, Jaxon. We've only been paid to scam and rob those who were also frauds, remember? Although I disagreed that this group be involved in such, we were still able to avenge and help their victims. Murder, on the other hand, that is something I cannot tolerate!"

Rychard and James fought Jaxon to stop him from doing what he intends to, injuring Jaxon in the process. It was Fangs no more when Jaxon left the group, leaving with one eye blinded by his two dear friends. But friends they are no more.

Jaxon proceeded to use his influence over members of Fangs and decided to form his own group which he had named after the result of their altercation, The One-Eyed.

James revived Fangs to prevent the One-Eyed's crimes from occurring but Rychard and Darwin no longer joined Fangs and also form their own group. It was never named nor was revealed. Only Rychard's name and face was passed through the gangs and bullies in the area. They fear being found by him, he is both arrogant and cruel. He would beat up bullies or thugs if he finds them, and if they dare touch one of his families then it would be their families who would receive its repercussions.

"You must stop what you are doing, Rychard! This is not right!" Victoria said one day when she found out about Rychard's doings.

"Yeah?! Because you are right once again, aren't you? You don't even know what I have been up to."

Victoria slapped Rychard. "So it was you who killed the only living child of that family?! They ruined our world but killing someone is wrong!"

"Have they thought of that when they killed us? Mom, I know that you know too, we died the moment that they did that to you. You and even father was never able to land a stable job even years after that incident. They killed two kids, maybe it was right that they lose both of theirs too!"

Victoria slapped Rychard once more. "Are you not afraid? It has been years already so why must you kill another?! What if you get caught!"

"Nothing's above me, Mom! I will not get caught because it wasn't me who did it! Aren't you happy that those people received what they deserved? But I am telling you, it wasn't me! I did not do such thing!"

"My point still stands! Leave whatever you got involved with!" Victoria begged, aiming to hug Rychard.

Rychard only walked passed his mother then ran outside. He looked backed before leaving and told his mother once more, "Nothing's above me, Mom!"
