Moonlight streamed through the expansive windows, casting soft, silvery patterns over the sheets. The sounds of the waves blended with the gentle rustling of leaves, the night air carrying the familiar scent of salt. Beyond the glass, the bay lay calm and undisturbed, as if every element had quietly found its place. In that gentle stillness, the world whispered a subtle promise that all was exactly as it should be.
The slow rhythm of the night carried into their movements effortless and unhurried. A shift, the press of warm skin, the familiar weight of each other. There was no urgency, no hesitation – just the slow, steady unravelling of space between them. Fingers traced over bare skin, instinctively gliding towards the right spots, mirroring the sensual pace of their kisses.
The bed dipped as Sean moved, his touch sliding lower, firm yet unrushed. Jay's quiet exhale was almost lost beneath the murmur of the waves outside. They had done this countless times before, yet something about the way they lingered felt different, mingling with unguarded ease in Jay's expression that made them feel closer than ever.
Breaths mingled, movements instinctive, seamless in a way only familiarity allowed. The heat between them built, slow and measured, stretching out in drawn-out motions that neither rushed nor resisted. It felt endless, yet not long enough, the steady rise and fall of pleasure washing over them like the tide beyond the windows until they unravelled together.
"I missed you," Jay muttered, pulling him down into a deep kiss.
Sean smiled into the kiss, realising that this was probably the first time Jay said it on his own. It felt like he not only let him in but also actively started to reach out, and this meant the world.
"Our place is incredibly empty without you," Sean responded, burying his face in the crook of Jay's neck. "And nothing feels right when you are not with me."
"I'm not going anywhere."
Sean suddenly lifted his head to meet his steady gaze as if searching for confirmation, but he was too afraid to ask for it. Instantly, his fingers tightened around Sean's, still joined with his on the pillow. His other hand slid up, tracing the curve of Sean's back before threading into black hair, and Jay brought their foreheads together with a gentle pull.
"I'm sorry... I should have talked to you instead of putting you through this because I'm a mess."
Sean brushed off a strand of hair from his forehead, trailing down to his jaw. The tenderness of his touch mirrored Sean's gaze perfectly. "Mess or not, you are mine."
His eyebrow quirked slightly, and his gaze suggestively dropped down for a moment. "Clearly," Jay chuckled, slipping into a more playful mood.
Sean was aware Jay's limits for conversations like this wouldn't disappear overnight – maybe never would – but it didn't matter. Understanding his reasons and the scars he kept hidden, Sean could work with them, showing him, little by little, that he would never be left behind again. So, there was no need to push him for more than Jay was ready. Sean learned it the hard way.
"When you look at me like this, I so want to switch in the shower," Sean said, pulling him towards the bathroom.
"Like what?"
Sean stepped into the glass-enclosed shower and turned on the water. "Like I'm yours just as much as you are mine."
Jay closed the distance between them in one smooth movement. Both hands pressed against the wall beside Sean's head to keep him right where he wanted him. Then, without hesitation, he kissed him. A deep and unrelenting kiss that left no space for doubt about what Jay wanted. When he finally pulled back, his breath brushed against Sean's ear.
