MANSI's POV:
Hurt.
Hurt is the only word I can use right now to express my feelings.
All the hopes I've had that no matter what happens, I will always be his first priority, have started crumbling slowly. I never thought something could hurt this bad. It was soo bad I almost wanted to die. Never in 17 years of our life have we been separated like this. Not because of a third person atleast. Never in my life have I seen Shantanu allowing someone else to sit beside him if it wasn't me. Not even when I was absent. He would either sit alone or I would be there by his side.
But things change I guess. Right?
Not everyone is going to cherish you forever. People do let go of you, as time passes. But never in my life had I thought that Shantanu would be one of those people who would let go.
I guess I am just being too dramatic. It's just one seat, right? and also I was absent, that's the reason why he allowed her to sit beside him. And feelings do take toll on us at this age especially. No matter how much I hate to admit it, he does have a crush on Mihika. I don't know if that crush has a future or not, but all I know is it won't affect our friendship. He won't let go of me. He won't give up on me because he wants to put efforts somewhere else.
He won't give up on us. Right?
No matter how hard I tried, that question mark in my head was always lingering there. It kept poking me. It kept taunting me saying that I don't trust my best friend enough.
But was it my fault that the current situation was leading me to have such thoughts? No.
Was it his fault that I caught genuine feelings for him? No.
The one to be blamed is our situation. Me catching feelings for him and Mihika entering our lives just clashed. But everything will be fine soon. Mihika isn't a girl who dates. She's never dated any guy in this school, neither has she been spotted with anyone else outside the campus. This is the only similar thing between me and her.
I was lost in my own thoughts when I felt Shanvi holding my hand.
I looked at her and she gave me a reassuring smile while gently squeezing my hand.
SHANVI: Everything will be fine Mansi. Don't overthink.
I gave her a genuine smile and hugged her tightly. Sometimes, we don't appreciate our other friends when we have a special friend in our life. Shanvi deserves so much more love for her constant support and the way she tries to me happy. She's been the biggest reason why I am still not giving up on everything and I am glad to have her by my side.
MANSI: Sacchi yaar Shanvi, tu nhi hoti toh mera kya hota?
(really Shanvi, what would I do without you?)
SHANVI: Mai nhi hu toh kya hua? Shantanu hai toh "teasing"
(What if I wouldn't be there? you have Shantanu with you.)
I let out a sad chuckle to which she again reacted by holding my hand and making me face her.
SHANVI: trust me mansi, he belongs with you and all of us can see it. You both will have each other.
I gulped and gave her curt nod. We were soon interrupted when our teacher entered the class and the day began for me.
TIME SKIP
HALF AN HOUR LATER.
MANSI'S POV:
was trying hard to concentrate on the lesson but today's incident had already polluted my mind. I will have to get a hold on my thinking ability and flow of emotions. This is not gonna work out. I have many more things in my life that I am dying to achieve and I need to divert my attention towards there-
