Days passed by, and soon it was Friday. Jiwon found herself lost in thoughts of how much she was going to enjoy the art gallery. She had already sent Jake the location and confirmed the time over the phone, making sure everything was set. Her excitement only grew as the day went on, and she could barely focus on anything else.

Meanwhile, Jake was waiting for Saturday too, though he hadn’t told Jay about his plans. He knew if Jay found out, he’d definitely pull his leg about it, and he wasn’t in the mood for that. Instead, he kept things to himself, quietly anticipating the weekend.

When Saturday morning arrived, Jake got up early, freshened up, and went downstairs. His mom was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, but before she could ask him anything, he casually threw out, “Mom, I’ll go to Jay’s house. I’ll be back later.”

Without waiting for much of a response, he grabbed his keys and phone before heading out the door. The cool morning air hit his face as he stepped outside, and for some reason, today felt different.

The bell rang, and a few moments later, a maid opened the door, giving Jake a polite nod before stepping aside.

“You’ll find him in the lounge,” she informed him before walking away.

Jake stepped inside, hands in his pockets, and made his way through the familiar house. As expected, Jay was sprawled out on the couch, lazily flipping through channels on the TV. His hair was slightly messy, and from the half-empty can of soda on the table, it was clear he’d been there for a while.

Jay glanced up when he heard footsteps and smirked. “Look who finally decided to show up.”

Jake scoffed, dropping onto the couch beside him. “Like I had any plans.”

Jay raised an eyebrow. “You? No plans? That’s rare.”

Jake shrugged, grabbing the remote and switching the channel. “Just didn’t feel like staying home.”

Jay stretched his arms over his head, letting out a yawn. “Well, you came to the right place. I was getting bored out of my mind.”

Jake leaned back, his attention on the screen, but his mind was elsewhere—not that he realized it yet.

Jake exhaled, resting his head against the couch. “I feel like something is wrong… it feels off… I don’t know.”

Jay looked over at him, raising a brow. “What do you mean?”

Jake shrugged, not sure how to put it into words. It wasn’t anything specific—just an odd feeling in the back of his mind, like he was forgetting something important. But if it was really that important, he would’ve remembered by now… right?

He pulled out his phone and glanced at the time—11:56 AM. Almost noon.

Jay noticed. “You waiting for something?”

Jake shook his head, slipping his phone back into his pocket. “Nah. Just checking.”

Jay didn’t pry, only nodding as he took another sip of his soda. The lazy afternoon vibe made it tempting to stay longer, and the idea of heading back home felt pointless.
