Monday arrived with the usual buzz of a new week, and Jake was in his room, preparing for school. His eyes fell on the diary, its presence a persistent reminder of the mystery he was eager to unravel. With a heavy sigh, he picked it up, the worn cover feeling familiar in his hands. He shoved it into his bag, the diary’s significance weighing on him.

As he got into the car that would take him to school, Jake’s mind was occupied with the enigmatic entries of the diary and the girl who had unknowingly left him with so many questions. The drive felt longer than usual, each minute stretching as he contemplated the secrets held within those pages.

Her birthday was set for September 10, which fell on the following Monday. Jake realized that if he couldn’t find her before then, he still had a chance to catch her at the beach, as she seemed to frequent it on her birthday. Determined, he stepped out of the car and made his way into the school with his usual nonchalance. His pace quickened as he headed straight for the library.

Upon arrival, he encountered Mrs. Kim at the front desk. “Hey, Mrs. Kim,” he greeted her. “I was wondering if anyone came looking for the diary I found.”
