The Magic Within

8. Moving out

I got up extra early this morning to pack my things, not that I had much anyway. All of my things fit in 2 bags, so it was easy for me to move to the Apollo cabin.

It was still relatively early so not many people were out. On the way to the Apollo cabin, people kept staring and whispering to each other. The attention was really awkward, so I walked a little faster. By the time I got to the Apollo cabin I was nearly sprinting because of all the stares. I quickly rushed in and closed the door. Luckily no-one was awake except for a blonde guy and a girl, who I assume just got up because of her messed up hair. The girl muttered a quick good morning before going to the bathroom. That was the first sign of decency I got this whole morning. The boy turned around and walked up to me.

"Hi, I'm Will Solace, head of the Apollo cabin. You must be Luna." he said with a friendly smile.

"Is it that obvious?"

"Yip. The whole camp is talking about you."

"Like I hadn't noticed before" this I said with a bit more attitude than I meant, but Will didn't seem to notice.

"I wish I was there to see it. I was busy in the infirmary. From all the gossip I hear, it was probably the biggest scandal since Percy found the fleece and that was pretty big." He kept going on and on about how big it was and I was starting to feel uneasy.

'I thought I could fit in here, but no. Even in a world where mythological creatures attacked people, I was still a freak.'

Will finally saw how uncomfortably I was and changed the subject.

"So....let's go to your bunk so you can settle in"

I followed him to the neater side of the cabin, which I'm guessing is the girls side. There was an open bunk right next to the window and I set all my stuff down. Will and I then walked to the dining pavilion and again, there were many odd stares and pointing. Oh joy....

The dining pavilion was full of campers talking and goofing around, but everything became quiet when I walked in. I tried to ignore them and just get breakfast over with so I grabbed a bowl, asked for fruit salad and went to the fire. I felt stares burning into my head and when I looked around, everyone turned back to their food. Except for the people who didn't care about being caught gossiping. Yes, I'm talking to you Aphrodite cabin!!!!

I walked back to the table and ate my breakfast without a word. I then walked to the Athena cabin. Luckily the Apollo and Athena cabin had the morning off so I could help Annabeth design my cabin. We spent about an hour just for the rough sketch and it was soon time for the Apollo cabin to go to archery. I was already a pro, so I helped Will teach, but I was only 10 so no-one really paid attention to me. Oh well, their loss.

By the end of the week, the gossip had ceased and Will and I had become best friends. I had started to help out at the infirmary. I also met that guy who I shot in the leg, and I don't want to cross paths with him again. He almost ripped my face off, just because he won't be able to walk properly for a month. I mean, seriously?!

At least I have really good friends to help. Percy and Will are the best big brothers ever and if I'm not with them, I'm probably with Annabeth or Kat. It's my birthday in a month and I'm so excited. Who wouldn't be? I can't wait to see all my presents. Anyway, I've got pegasus riding now so, wish me luck.
