13. A New Friend

"Luna! Get up!" shouted Ginny who was excitedly jumping on my bed. I gave a small groan then sat up in the bed. "Hurry up or we're going to be late" shouted Ginny again from the other side of the room, before she run out the door. I heard a small rattle on the window and opened it to find moon stream with a letter. She dropped it on my bed and flew out the window again. The letter said:

Dear Luna

I assume you have arrived safely at the family who will be looking after you until Hogwarts opens. As you have probably found out, the wizarding world and the mythological world do not know of each other's existence and I intend on keeping it this way. For this reason you will have to change your identity. If a wizard is to ask about your family, you shall say that you are half-blood witch and your father is a muggle. A muggle is a person who has no magic heritage or abilities. A pure-blood is a person who comes from a family with both parents having magical abilities. A half-blood is someone with one muggle or muggle born parent and one magical parent. A muggle born is a descendant of a wizard who's past generations did not inherit the magical gene but they some how got it. You live in America, but stay in Hogwarts until the summer holidays.

In your time with the wizards, you cannot show anyone your other powers, unless you absolutely need to. Attached to this letter you will find a key, which will open one of the safes in Grinngots, a wizard bank in Diagon Alley. There is more than enough money to buy your supplies and anything else you think might be necessary.

I took the key and the letter and put it in my bag which I would be taking to Diagon Alley. Then I took a quick shower and changed into some comfortable clothes before heading to breakfast. Mrs Weasley was in the kitchen making waffles with Ginny, while everyone got ready for the trip to Diagonal Alley.

"Has anyone seen Scabbers? He wasn't in his cage this morning," asked Ron. The twins turned around with mischief written all over their faces.

"Oh, we were just trying out a new spell on him, Fred's idea of course," said George, who handed Ron a grey rat.

"Yes, a very good spell my brother here so cleverly thought of maybe ikle Ronniekins would like to try it later. Listen carefully. 'Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, Turn this stupid fat rat yellow'" said Fred very slowly.

"Honestly, do you think Ron's daft enough to actually try one of your spells. Remember the last time," said Percy. "Ouch that hurt," said George/Fred with a fake look of hurt. "And how were we supposed to know that it wasn't a gnome?" said the other twin. I had know idea what they were talking about so I stayed quiet. Percy just rolled his eyes and turned his attention to me. "So tell me about yourself, what's your blood status?" he said.

I remembered what Lady Hecate told me and said, "I'm a half-blood. My mother is a witch." Percy nodded and then said, "You also have some kind of accent, where are you from?"

"I live America. I only came to Scotland to go to Hogwarts and then I'll fly back for the summer," I said without stuttering. I usually stutter when I lie or get nervous. "Interesting..." said Percy. He was about to ask another question when the doorbell rang. One of the twins opened the door and in walked a girl with blue hair. She was slightly taller than me and very pale.

"Luna, this is our friend Raven, Raven this is Luna. Raven is coming with us to Diagonal Alley," said Fred/George.
"Hi, nice to meet you," said Raven who stuck out her hand. I shook it and smiled.

"So, how long have you known the twins?" I asked. "I've known them since the first year, but we only became friends when I started playing quidditch last year. We worked together on some pranks as well," answered Raven. "Cool. I have some really good idea's for some pranks. Can you guys help me with them?" I asked. Raven smiled widely and said,"Sure thing. Fred, George, we have a new partner in crime!" The twins rushed over to us and started shaking me hands. They let go and looked down seriously.

"Welcome to the dark side. We've been expecting you," said the twins at the same time. It was so creepy. I've always wondered how twins do that. Raven looked like she was about to pee herself from all the laughing.

"Alright, boys no need to scare our guest. Everyone breakfast is ready. Oh welcome Raven come have a spot of breakfast," said Mrs Weasley. We all went to the kitchen and sat in our seats. I sat down next to Ginny, who was on my right and Ron sat on my left with Percy next to him. Across the table was Fred, George, Raven and Mrs Weasley. Mr Weasley was at work. The table was buzzing with conversations and I joined in a few. After we finished, we went to the fireplace to flu to Diagonal Alley.
