"Breathe Abigail, you'll be fine." I said to myself in the mirror. I could barely notice the beautiful girl in the mirror. Unlike how I normally am ,she looked remarkably stunning and polished to perfection. Her brown locks pinned in an elegant up do with long stray pieces hanging to frame her face. Even her makeup , which took a whole hour to complete, was done flawlessly. It wasn't clown trophy worthy at all only little subtle highlighting and bronze eyeshadow to make her brown eyes pop.
To finish the look she is wearing a beautiful strapless, white gown with fitted lace that flows from the top and down to the waist. At the bottom the fabric flares like rippling waters down to her feet covering her embarrassing white flats.
What, I had to keep some part of me there. Since I was never the type to have the finer things in life, I didn't know how to walk in heels, much to Nana Ann's disappointment. Just thinking of those death traps she forced me to try and walk in gave me nightmares.
So after hours of falling flat on my face, she decided that I was going to be nervous enough and having
the balance of a baby deer was not going to help the situation. Which concluded in the purchase of some plain, old, white flats. Why the change of wardrobe you may ask? Well two simply words can explain that , Mating Ceremony. For those of you who don't know, a mating ceremony is an event where the alpha introduces and marks his mate all while in the view of his loving pack and visiting pack Alphas.
The purpose is to build and solidify the bond between Alpha, pack, and future Luna. In other words it's kinda like a wedding but instead of marrying one person there are thousands of people who you are vowing to protect, lead, and love till death. These events usually happen days after the Alpha finds his mate, but because of the drama that was webbed in our lives a few months ago it wasn't possible.
So being the great grandmother that she is Nana Ann took it upon herself to plan the whole thing without the help or consent of Conner and I. Well Conner knew of it all along but decided not to tell me. His genius reason being he didn't want to freak me out. Well to say the least it didn't work.
Learning that you are going to be not only attending but starring in an event this huge tends to freak girls like me out, but the icing on the cake was when I found out I only had two days to prepare myself for it.
But I somehow managed to get my act together and now here I am all princessy waiting on Nana Ann to come back to room. She left to give me some privacy while putting on my dress.
"Awww dear you look beautiful." Nana said while walking over to where I was standing. " Conner is going to be so happy, he won't be able to keep his hands off you." She added with a wink.
I blushed a deep pink at her words but I couldn't help the way my heart reacted when I heard his name. I hadn't seen him all because we were both getting ready for tonight.
"Have you talked to him" I asked nervously.
" Yes and he says he misses you , but you don't need to worry about him he's fine. Just focus on the event."
When she said that I couldn't help but panic. I mean what if I mess up while I'm talking or trip and fall, but worse of all what if the pack doesn't like me. I'd have to leave and the thought of leaving Conner ripped my heart in half.
Somehow sensing my distress Nana Ann wrapped her arms around me whispered comforting words in my ear. "Don't worry everything will be perfect. The pack is going to love you and they'll be happy that Conner is happy."
"Are you sure?" I asked with tears forming in my eyes.
"Positive. Now stop all that crying you're going to ruin your makeup." She scolded.
