Trigger warning: You will cry in more ways than one Mentions of killing, murder, rape, cheating and manipulation.
Pain throbbed at the back of my head, a slow, pulsing reminder that I made stupid decisions sometimes and had walked into this trap with my eyes open. I exhaled, forcing my eyes open, only to be met with dim golden light filtering through a grand room.
A chandelier hung from the high ceiling, its glow casting eerie shadows against the marble walls. Velvet drapes swayed with the evening breeze slipping through the barely cracked window. A king-sized bed sat in the center, dressed in silk sheets.
Luxury. False comfort.
I wanted to laugh. They really thought keeping me in a room like this would make me calm? Could have just put me in the damn dungeon.
A chandelier dripping with gold. It smelled of expensive cologne and old power, but none of it could mask the stench of rot that clung to the man who owned this place.
At least the chains were real.
Thick, iron cuffs dug into my wrists, the metal cold against my skin. My ankles were shackled too—just enough slack to let me move around the room, but never close to the windows.
Never close enough to escape.
Motherfuckers.
I exhaled sharply through my nose, forcing my body upright. The chains clinked with my movement, the sound grating against my ears. My skin burned where the metal bit into it, a dull, irritating pain that only fueled my rage.
Reyansh.
The thought of him settled something in my chest.
I closed my eyes for a second, picturing him—his sharp, knowing gaze, the way his lips quirked in amusement whenever I argued with him, the way his hands felt against my skin, always warm, always steady.
He wasn't just my husband.
He was my home. He would find me.
Even if he would be livid because I pulled a stunt like this.
