The alarm clock next to me blared, causing me to jerk up. My hair covered the right side of my face, but I could make out that it was 8:30. I was supposed to be at school, considering it was a Monday morning on the third week of my junior year, but I was excused from classes. My plane ticket was booked and I was leaving tomorrow.
I looked around my now empty room. Four suitcases sat by the door and there were a few boxes of things that were going into storage near my closet door.
I walked over to the box that had a few set of clothes along with bathroom essentials needed to last me the remaining two days here at home and picked out a set of undergarments and a plain white t-shirt along with a pair of skinny jeans and threw them on. I pulled a pair of black vans from the box and slipped them on before French braiding my hair messily and slipping on a black sweater.
I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth before applying moisturizer to my face. After came some mascara, a ring of eyeliner, and some lip balm.
I drove another five minutes before parking in front of The Book Rack, the local bookstore.
I walked in and greeted my boss Martha before walking to the back room and clocking in. I walked to the front of the store and sat on the stool, awaiting customers. Business was slow as usual and when the clock struck 3, my shift was over. Bianca, the next person who was due to watch the store, walked in. I said goodbye to her, grabbed my purse and walked out.
I drove from work directly to the Target nearby. Usually, I go to pick up random things that aren't really necessary, but this time was different.
I had only been on a plane twice in my whole life. Both times had been with my mom when she was traveling for her skating competitions. Nowadays, we didn't have much money to travel, but I've always wanted to.
I came to Target in search for a neck pillow and good reading material. I know what you're thinking, why can't you just buy books from the bookstore you work at? Well, I've already read all the books there. I've had the job for three years now and I always find myself bored to the point where I walk around the store and read with the customers.
After asking for directions to the neck pillows, I was directed to aisle 16. Once there, I had a variety to choose from. I browsed at a couple, but settled on a black one with white polka dots. Sadly, however, I had less luck in the book aisle and left with just a neck pillow and a ginger ale.
~~It was now 6:45 and dad had called me earlier to tell me that he had made reservations for the family at Stefan's, a fancy Italian restaurant, for 7:30. It was our final family dinner before I left and I decided it was best for me to look a little bit presentable. I hopped into the shower and quickly washed up.
After twenty minutes of showering, I got out of the shower and quickly blow-dried my hair. I combed it straight and left it natural. After, I applied some eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara along with a some nude lipgloss. I slipped into a white and blue dress I had found at the bottom of my box. The top was a lacy material sheer floral white pattern and the bottom was a sheer navy blue skirt. I paired it with my moms old belt and a pair of black heels.
~~
After dinner, I came home with teary eyes. I came to the realization that I was leaving behind my three favorite people in the whole world. Dinner was delicious and conversation was good. It felt right to have them by my side and I knew when I left, it would be a long time until I had that feeling again.
My flight was tomorrow, bright and early. 8 AM. 8 AM I would be leaving behind comfort for a chance to continue my mothers legacy.

Thanks for reading!! I would really like it if you could share this with your friends, it would really help! And I know this chapter didn't have much dialogue, but that's just because the day really wasn't too exciting.
