"Sweetums, if I had known you fell for me earlier, I would've made more of an effort." he said, coming in next to Margie.

"More of an effort? So you chose to believe that the flowers delivered to my house each week isn't enough? Or the chocolates I always find taped to my car window?" she demanded.

"That's downright creepazoid." Casey whispered to me and Alex.

We nodded in response and continued to listen to their banter.

"Oh honey, that's just the start. Imagine how I would be if we were actually together." he said with a wink.

"I don't even want to think about that." she said making a face.

"Sure you don't." he retorted.

The sound of pattering feet on the marble floor broke the conversation.

"Sir, Mister Rick would like to know if you want to start letting people in." said a middle aged lady dressed in a black pencil skirt and white blouse. Her head was slightly bowed and her dark hair was pulled into a low bun.

"Hold on Helen. Tell him to wait a little longer. No need to let the savages in too early." Kevin said, chuckling.

"Yes Mr. Kevin." she said before scurrying off.

"Savages?" I asked.

"Yes, new girl. Savages." he said.

"Her name is Delfena. She's my friend and if you ever want anything to happen between us, you'll respect her the way she deserves to be." Margie chastised.

"Ok babe. Whatever you say, babe." he said, winking repeatedly at her.

"Do you have something in your eye?" Alex asked jokingly.

"No, Alex, I do not. Now if you ladies will excuse me, I need to go handle crowd control with Rick." he said before turning away.

"Let's get to the kitchen before the throngs of people do." Margie said, linking arms with me and Casey before pulling us off in another direction. Alex sauntered behind us slowly, scrolling through something on her phone.

Margie led us through a series of miscellaneous hallways before stopping at what appeared to be the kitchen door. She kneed it open slightly and let it swing out on its own before leading us inside.

The kitchen was almost the same size as Aunt Julie's but a tad bit smaller. The walls were painted a pale cream and the floors were a nice dark granite.

"Wow Marg, you have this house plan down to the last mark." I said, giving her a slight smirk.

"Oh hush. I've been over at his house too many times. And so has the rest of the school. I just simply have a more detailed brain." she retorted.

The marble island was covered with plates of food and drinks, but they weren't just your regular old bean dip and chips. Fancy plated foods were lined up one after the other. I gazed at the everlasting selection of lobster, escargot, caviar, and tuna tar tar. There were several people dressed in chef outfits, carrying more trays of overzealous foods out from behind another white door opposite of where I was standing.
