I woke up to to a hand poking my back repeatedly. I glanced over at my bedside table to see it was only 2:00 AM.
"Who are you, and what do you want so early in the morning?" I demand.
"Del, Aeko and I wanted to give you something." my sister Lexiana said in a timid voice.
"What? Why now? It's 2 in the morning! You guys should be asleep in your rooms!" I stated in a firm voice.
"We want to give you this." Aeko replied in a quiet voice.
Holding out his hands, he held a box neatly wrapped in the daily newspaper dad reads every morning.
I sat up and took the gift from his hands and slowly peeled apart the newspaper. The only light in the room was that coming from the moon through the window.
I held the dark blue box near my side and opened it. Inside was a necklace. It had two charms on it, one of a pair of skates and one of the globe.
I looked up at my brother and sister and pulled them in for a tight hug.
"Wait, there's more!" Aeko said in a happy voice.
I gave him a confused look as Aeko hands shot out from his side, taking the necklace and flipping it over.
On the flip side of the pair of skates was an engraving. Engraved in it was the day my mother died, Aeko's birthday, March 18, 2012.
On the other side of the globe charm, the words 'Distance means so little when someone means so much.' were engraved.
I ran a finger over the engraving as my eyes filled with tears.
"Thank you guys. I love you. Hey, and I'm also only a phone call away." I said in a husky voice.
I pulled both of them in for another hug, this time letting them both sit in my arms for a minute. I slipped the necklace around my neck and held it in my fist. I let tears roll down my eyes.
"We love you, Delfena. Mom would be so proud to see who you've become and what you're doing." Lexi said.
"Mommy is proud sissy. I know it." Aeko said, looking up at the ceiling.
"How about you guys sleep here for the rest of the night, ok?" I asked.
They both nodded and climbed into bed with me. I wrapped both my arms around them and we drifted off to sleep.

"Lex, Aeko, Del, come down for breakfast!" my dad yelled from the kitchen.
The three of us rolled out of bed and I glanced at the clock on my bedside table. It read 6:30 and the plane was due to leave at 8:45
I slipped on my pink Hollister flip flops and took Aeko's hand, following Lexi out the door. We walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. Placed on the island were four plates full of food. Each plate had sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes. A Lumberjack Breakfast is one of the only full meals my dad can make.
We each took out seats on the bar stools lined up against the island and my dad took the seat parallel to us.
After eating, it was already seven. We cleared the table and dad began washing the dishes while we started getting ready.
