I woke from a fitful sleep to the annoying sound of the alarm on my phone. I groaned and hit the off button. I rolled over onto my back and sighed. I had no desire to get up and dressed for school. The first day of school. A new school. Jam pack full of people I didn't know. People I didn't want to know.
But I had no choice. I dragged myself out of bed and went to my closet. Normally I would've picked out my outfit for the first day of school about 2 weeks before school was scheduled to start, with excitement over the fact I'd be seeing my friends.
But now there was none of that. I grabbed a white, fitted shirt with seafoam blue colored stripes on it. Next I opened up the third drawer and grabbed my favorite pair of jeans. I put them on followed by my bra and underwear, and then my gray Vans. I grabber my backpack and headed to the bathroom. I grabbed my eyeliner and smudged on a thin line on the bottom lash line, followed by a generous amount of mascara, in an attempt to give my lashes a bit of curl.
"Mornin' sunshine!" My mom said cheerfully as I walked into the kitchen. I mumbled a stream of unintelligible words and grabbed a bottle of water, which I then mixed with the energy drink powder sitting in a container on the counter.
I drank it lazily as I scrolled through Facebook. "First day at my new school. Someone shoot me." I posted to Facebook.
I threw the bottle in the trash and glanced at the clock. 6:10. My bus got to my house at 6:15.
"Guess I should going." I said, forcing myself not to sound too bitter.
"Have a good day, Lily." She said. My brother came out of his room at the last minute, rushing to the door.
"Hurry up, idiot." I said bitterly. "We don't have all day." He rolled his eyes and headed out the door.
"Bye Liam." My mom said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and headed out the door to get on the bus to hell.
