My pregnancy announcement didn't change the woman that I was or the role I was expected to play.
My pregnancy only meant that I would have to work that much harder to get my degree and keep my family safe.
I couldn't be sloppy with anything at this point , my life wasn't the only life I was walking around with.
There was a small child growing deep within my womb, and he would want his mother to continue to be the warrior she was known as.
Damn, being a warrior seemed to mean a lot like holding a gun over someone's head and putting a knife to someone's throat.
What it used to mean mattered, now it just meant being a murderer. That's not who I was, not deep down anyway.
I was just a girl with a mission and that mission was what mattered.
It meant protecting my family with my life because no one knows what they're alive for until they know what they would die for.
My family was, and will always be number one on the list.
I would never sacrifice the lives of my family, and that's part of the reason why I was so easy to manipulate mentally.
I lost all rational sense and focus when it came to my familia.
I couldn't be counted on not to jump the gun when they were in danger. My life in exchange for theirs always seemed worth it.
I attempted to let my hand rub the smooth skin of my stomach. Since finding out, this small gesture had been a growing comfort.
Mars's large hand was already covering my flat belly so I settled for rubbing small circles onto his hand.
His fingers were calloused and large, but I loved it, because when he held me, nothing could get to me.
He was a brick wall of protection.
"Babe- your gonna have to stop that."
I smiled softly and continued to tickle his skin with my delicate touch.
His grip on me tightened slightly and I trembled.
"Kai."
He groaned out into my ear
"Mmm"
I managed to squeak out when his lips found my neck suddenly.
" Go to sleep, you have class in the morning."
His hand moved to my face and his lips sought mine out in the darkness.
The kiss was short, but it held everything necessary to make my toes curl and heart beat faster.
When he pulled away, a small smile played on my lips while my eyes remained closed.
I snuggled closer into his embrace, and fought off the nagging thoughts of King.
His intentions seemed good but there was something genuinely wrong with his delivery.
I made myself forget these thoughts and drifted off to sleep, warmed by the body of the beast in my bed.
