The gentle rustle of leaves swayed with the mountain breeze as Y/N lounged beneath the shade of a sprawling peach tree. The scent of blossoms mingled with the sweetness of the fruit, filling the air with a serene aroma. It should've been peaceful, relaxing even, but the tension between her and Wukong gnawed away at her nerves.

They'd been eating in comfortable silence at first. Y/N savored the flavor of the immortal peach in her hands, its sweetness melting on her tongue. Wukong, on the other hand, ate like a wild animal — juices dripping down his chin and arms as he tore into the fruit like it was his last meal.

But the peace couldn't last forever. Too much weighed on her mind. And it was clear from the way Wukong's gaze kept flickering toward the sky and his tail twitching with irritation that he was just as troubled.

"So," Y/N finally spoke, her voice shattering the quiet. "What are you planning to do about Lady Bone Demon?"

Her question froze Wukong mid-bite. His jaw clenched before he slowly chewed and swallowed, each movement deliberate. He dropped the half-eaten peach to the ground, letting it roll away, leaving sticky residue on his palm. He didn't bother wiping it off.

"I..." he began, his tone low, roughened with hesitation. "I've been thinking of using the Samadhi Fire."

The world seemed to tilt beneath Y/N's feet. Her eyes widened, and the peach slipped from her fingers, thudding softly against the grass. "What?!"

Wukong's gaze was distant, fixed on some imaginary point far beyond the horizon. "It's the only way to make sure she's gone for good. To make sure she never hurts anyone again. If I can harness it, then—"

"Wukong, do you even hear yourself?" Y/N snapped, her voice sharp with disbelief. "The Samadhi Fire is pure destruction! That's not something you can just control because you want to. You have to think of something else. Anything else."

"There is nothing else," he snapped back, his frustration flaring. "You think I haven't thought of every possible way to stop her? That I haven't spent every waking moment racking my brain trying to find another solution?"

"But to keep this a secret from everyone?" Y/N shot back, the fire in her own voice rising to meet his. "From MK, from his friends? From me?"

"I know," he murmured, the admission sounding like it was dragged out of him. But there was no real remorse in his eyes. Just a hardened determination.

Y/N clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. "No, you don't know. You're not listening to me, Wukong. You're so wrapped up in your stupid pride that you're not thinking about anyone else."
__________

His eyes narrowed, and his tone grew defensive. "Oh, and you think just because you woke up yesterday that you understand everything going on here? This isn't about playing hero or forming some cute little team. This is about stopping a monster. And sometimes, you have to handle things alone."

"Your own way?" Y/N scoffed, her anger simmering just beneath her calm facade. "With no one knowing the dangers of this fire? Without anyone knowing Lady Bone Demon is free? You can't just pretend this isn't everyone's problem, Wukong."

"It's my problem!" Wukong roared, his voice echoing against the mountain walls. His chest heaved as he glared at her, a flicker of guilt crossing his face before the defiant mask slipped back into place. "I'm the one she wants. I'm the one she's after. And if dealing with it means doing something reckless, then fine! I'll do it if it keeps everyone safe. Including you."

The silence that followed was heavy, pressing down on them like the weight of a thousand mountains. Y/N's shoulders sagged, her anger giving way to pure frustration. "You're not keeping anyone safe if you burn yourself alive trying to control something that's impossible to control."

Wukong stared at her, his golden eyes flickering like molten metal. For a moment, his defiance crumbled, his gaze softening as if he could actually hear her. But then, his jaw tightened, his stubbornness returning like a brick wall between them.
__________

"I just... I can't let anyone else get hurt because of me," Wukong murmured, his voice so low she almost didn't hear it. "Not MK. Not his friends. Not... you."

"Wukong..." she whispered, her hand slowly reaching out to him. Her fingers brushed against his shoulder, but he flinched away, as if her touch burned.

He rose to his feet in one swift motion, his expression unreadable. "I'm going to do what I have to do, Y/N. Even if you hate me for it."

And with that, he turned on his heel and walked away, his form growing smaller as he made his way through the peach trees.

Y/N watched him go, her chest tight with emotions she couldn't name. Anger. Fear. Sadness. Maybe all three tangled together in a knot she couldn't untie.
_____________

She was left alone beneath the sprawling peach tree, her hands clenching and unclenching at her sides. The half-eaten peaches scattered around her suddenly seemed sickly sweet, their vibrant colors taunting her with their innocent glow.

"You idiot..." she whispered, her voice trembling. But even as the words slipped from her lips, her worry for him only grew sharper, piercing her heart like thorns.

Because as stubborn as Wukong was, she couldn't deny that there was something horribly wrong about his plan. And if he went through with it...

No. She wouldn't let him face this alone. Even if she had to drag him back by his tail and knock some sense into him.
