Y/N trudged up the familiar path back to Wukong's little hut, her mind swirling with the heated words they'd exchanged. As much as she wanted to be stubborn and wait for him to come to his senses, a small part of her whispered that she should be the one to apologize first.

"Why should I?" she mumbled to herself. "He's the one acting like a reckless idiot..."

But even with her irritation simmering beneath the surface, she knew Wukong was just being his usual stubborn self. He was terrified of losing the people he cared about. And for all his arrogance and bluster, he was more fragile than anyone she'd ever known.

Taking a deep breath, she pushed open the door of the hut. The familiar scent of peaches mingled with the dusty warmth of the small space. Her gaze landed on Wukong lying sprawled out on the couch, one arm flung dramatically over his eyes like a sulking child. His tail hung off the edge of the couch, twitching every few seconds.

He looked miserable. Like a kid who'd been scolded and sent to his room.

She couldn't help but sigh at the sight. Why did he have to be so difficult?

Y/N walked over and sat down on the couch beside him, her presence making the cushions dip slightly. His ear twitched but he didn't move his arm away from his face.

"Wukong," she started, her voice softer than before. "I... I'm sorry."

He mumbled something in response.

"What was that?" she asked, leaning a little closer.

"Mm hm..." he muttered again, this time sounding more like a sulky grunt than an actual response.

Annoyed by his childish act, Y/N narrowed her eyes. "Oh, for heaven's sake..." Before she could rethink her decision, she reached over and yanked his tail.

"OW! Hey!" Wukong yelped, bolting upright so quickly he nearly headbutted her. His golden eyes were wide with shock and indignation. "What the hell was that for?!"

Y/N folded her arms, her expression deadpan. "Because you're acting like a big jerk. I apologized, and you're just lying there like I didn't say anything."

He scratched the back of his neck, looking away. "Well... You didn't have to pull my tail..."

"If you don't apologize properly, I'll pull it again," she threatened with a smirk. "And I'm not kidding."

Wukong's cheeks flushed slightly, his tail curling protectively around his waist. "Alright, alright! I'm sorry!" He said the words so quickly and loudly it sounded like he'd been holding his breath before shouting them out.

The corners of Y/N's mouth twitched with amusement. "Was that so hard?"

"...Maybe." His pout was adorable, and she couldn't help but laugh.

Wukong's blush deepened, his eyes flickering between her and the floor. But even through his embarrassment, she could see a hint of relief in his gaze. Like some of the weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

They sat there in silence for a moment, the tension between them finally easing.

But far away from their quiet reconciliation, Nezha paced back and forth in his celestial chambers, his fists clenched tightly at his sides. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. That someone was wrong.

He'd sensed Y/N's awakening from the moment her presence returned to the world. The heavens themselves seemed to stir in response to her reemergence. And while that should have brought him comfort, he couldn't help but feel a deep, gnawing unease.

His master. His precious master.

The thought of her being with someone else made his skin crawl, his chest tighten with possessive rage. He had sworn himself to her. Sworn to protect her, cherish her, serve her. No one else was worthy of her grace.

But what if she was with him? That infuriating, arrogant monkey. That reckless fool who caused more trouble than anyone else in the realms.

Nezha's jaw clenched as he recalled the past — the battles, the chaos, the destruction Wukong had brought upon the world. The idea of Y/N willingly being in that creature's presence made his blood boil.

No. He wouldn't allow it.

"Please, my master," he whispered to himself, his gaze fierce and determined. "Please tell me you're safe. And if you are with him... I will make sure he never touches you again."

The air around him seemed to vibrate with his intensity, a storm of emotions coiling in his chest. He wouldn't rest until he saw her again. Until he ensured she was truly safe.

And if that meant confronting the Monkey King himself... so be it.
