The mountain trembled as the Samadhi Fire was reforged.
What began as a low, dreadful hum split the sky open in a roar of divine fury. Flames unlike any other erupted upward—white-hot at their core, edged in gold and crimson—engulfing Mei in an inferno so intense the air itself screamed. The ground fractured, ancient crystal prisons shattering into glittering dust, freeing everything they had once contained—including Macaque, who staggered back, coughing as shards dissolved from his body.
"MEI!" MK shouted, panic tearing from his throat. He rushed forward instinctively, hands glowing as he summoned water. "We can put it out—we can—"
"STOP."
Ne Zha's voice cut through the chaos, sharp and shaking. His eyes were wide, reflecting the fire. "The Samadhi Fire cannot be extinguished. Not by water. Not by force. It consumes everything—body, soul, destiny."
MK froze.
The words landed like a death sentence.
The fire surged higher, licking at the sky. Mei screamed—then bit it back, teeth clenched as she fought to remain standing.
Rage exploded in Monkey King's chest. He turned on Macaque, eyes blazing. "You did this."
Before he could strike, Tang stepped forward, shaking.
"No." His voice cracked. "I did."
Silence fell—heavy, suffocating.
"I started the ritual," Tang confessed, tears streaming freely now. "Macaque said... said it was my destiny. That this was the only way. I believed him." He bowed his head. "I thought... I thought destiny meant it had to happen."
Monkey King froze.
Lady Bone Demon's voice echoed in his memory—cold, certain.
Destiny cannot be undone.
His hand slowly lowered.
Macaque looked away, shame flickering behind his hardened gaze.
MK swallowed hard. "Then... what about Mei?" he whispered. "Is she going to—?"
Monkey King exhaled, voice heavy with guilt. "When I sealed the Samadhi Fire into the rings... I made a mistake." He looked at Mei, trapped in flame. "A fragment remained. It passed down through generations of dragons. Through Ao Lie." ____✦
Realization struck like lightning.
"She isn't just connected to it," Ne Zha breathed. "She is the fourth ring."
Y/N went still.
Then the world snapped.
"You—WHAT?!" she screamed, fury ripping through her chest. "You knew this and said NOTHING?!" Her hands shook. "You let us walk into this blind?!"
Monkey King met her gaze, unflinching but full of regret. "Because you believed in me," he said quietly. "Because you always told me we'd face things together."
Y/N stared at him—betrayal burning hotter than any flame.
Before she could speak, Mei collapsed forward—and MK caught her, pulling her into his arms. The fire surged violently... then faltered.
Slowly—agonizingly—the flames began to fade.
Gasps echoed around them.
Ne Zha's eyes widened. "She's... controlling it?" His voice was barely a whisper. "That's impossible."
Mei trembled, horror flooding her face as she realized what she'd done. She shoved MK away. "No—no, I can't—! I could hurt you! I could hurt everyone!"
"Mei, wait!" MK cried, chasing after her. "We can figure this out—together!"
But Mei turned, tears streaming as she took to the sky, fire trailing behind her like a broken halo. ____✭
Y/N stood frozen.
After everything. After trusting him. After believing in them.
Her hands clenched into fists, nails biting into her palms.
As Monkey King rose unsteadily to his feet—
CRACK.
Her fist connected with his face.
The sound echoed.
Monkey King staggered back, stunned. Tang and Sandy rushed forward, grabbing Y/N before she could strike again.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US?!" she screamed, tears burning her eyes. "We could have stopped this! We could have protected her!"
Monkey King said nothing.
He didn't fight back.
And somehow—that hurt even more.
Above them, the ashes of destiny still burned. And the cracks between them had never felt wider. _____𖤓
