One would consider eight year old kids to go to bed at 10 in the night. But Satoru seemed to be still lively, just like his teenager self. Principal Yaga just took away his game consoles several minutes ago because the boys were getting too noisy. So, they turned to household items to play more.
Just like now, they were doing the fill-the-glass challenge. A silly game where they placed a glass under the tap and took turns to fill it without it being overflowed. The one who spilled it would receive a forehead flick from everyone else.
"Suguru-san, you almost filled it to the top!"
"That's the thrilling part. No?"
Shoko spared them a glance before continuing to read a fashion magazine with you immersed in a book beside her. She couldn't believe how much more time they could fool around it over something trivial. The time was well past midnight.
"Phew, it is quite close", Yu exhaled after carefully adjusting the water tap to drop just a few sips into the almost full glass.
"Now, it's my turn!"
Satoru threw a smirk at Kento and opened the watertap. Clear liquid entered the glass carelessly. Everyone thought it was going to spill soon but Satoru stopped at the very second. You could see the water was already full.
"For you, my dear Kouhai~"
Satoru made a grand gesture toward Kento who was now regretting his decision to let this happen. He leaned in closer to the water tap to calculate the water level. But no matter how many times he checked, he could already tell that it was going to spill anyway. Resigned to his fate, he glanced back at others and flicked open the watertap.
As soon as the water touched the surface, it was forced to overflow. Chuckling Suguru patted Nanami's shoulder while Satoru and Yu cheered as if they hit a home run.
"Awwww, don't feel bad, Kento. You will win the next round", Yu squeezed his cheeks.
"Yeah, Nanamin. Don't pout like a sore loser", Satoru nudged at him with a teasing smile.
"I'm not pouting and it's 'Nanami', not 'Nanamin."
"Nanamin is much more adorable though."
"I don't need my name to be adorable, Gojo-san."
"Who knows?! Maybe you will get much cuter if your name is Nanamin. Right, Haibara?"
"It does sound adorable and suits you, Nanamin~"
"Not you too", your poor blonde friend sighed as the two started to call him 'Nanamin' over and over. The noises, however, reached the principal Yaga's room. And it led the educator to slam open the door for the second time.
"What are you still doing up late?! It's two in the morning, go to bed!"
"Crap! He's back!"
"We were just getting ready for bed."
"Nanami, scoop there a bit."
You and Shoko threw the books under the pillows and lay down on the bed. The man watched as the boys rushed to dive into the awaiting futons. Once everyone was settled down, he grunted, "If I hear another noise, you all are going back to your own rooms and sleep separately."
"Are you going to split our lively youths??"
"I will if it gets you to sleep! Aren't you tired yet? You played all day too."
Satoru pretended to think before grinning with pride, "Nope!"
Before Yaga could say another word, Suguru joined in, "Maybe he would if you tell us a bedtime story."
