LXXXVI. The Perks of Being A Patient Reader (OPINION)

There are just times when you've gotta stick around for a bit in order to see where a story can take you.
You have no idea what you could be missing so if you feel like dropping a book because it doesn't immediately reveal things to you at the moment, at least give it a few more chapters until something catches your eye.
From my experience, let's say someone would read one of my books and kind of stopped after reading two chapters. I get they might have reached a limit of how many votes they're allowed to give and some prefer to read complete stories but at least let me know how far you are into the story.
At least a nice shoutout or comment would do! I don't care how long it took you to finish the book, even if it took you ages to do so I'd appreciate it if someone let me know how much you liked it until the end.
I only had a few people who at least get to do that. I know what you're probably thinking, "Maybe your book just sucks!" or "Maybe you don't always update consistently."
However, as someone who's been writing for years and made sure it's presentable, I would beg to differ. You need to consider that every writer is gonna be different in terms of skill and personality so don't expect me to be like Agatha Christie.
Another thing is I usually take a bit more time to work on my chapters and will update a few times a month during my free time.
As a reader, you need to be open-minded and able to give people the benefit of the doubt. What could they possibly be telling you? How do you think they write the characters and plot?
    Most indie authors such as myself tend to write in an unconventional manner which is widely opposite to mainstream writers. Sometimes, Wattpad needs more stories outside of the typical teen romance and fantasy genres. Don't be afraid to branch out as you might discover something that could appeal to you.
I remember reading this kid's novel which kind of falls into the mystery-thriller genre and thank God, I manage to stick around because it gets better as you read along. Sure, it was kind of rough around the edges and had a few grammatical errors but still tolerable. Mind you, the author's still a high schooler so I can't be so hard on them.
Now, I am not forcing you to continue reading if you're no longer interested. I am not insisting you had to convince yourself that you're reading some masterpiece despite you thinking it sucks. You deserve to read books that are not only good but also appeals to you.
All I am saying is if you happen to stumble upon a book with an interesting premise, at least give it a chance and you've gotta go through a couple of slow chapters to actually get to the good parts.
