Chase The Tease

I enjoyed the comments on my latest update! I've really missed writing and all of you! I appreciate each of you and love that you love the Harper's as much as I love creating their wild tales! Duel had a car awaiting our arrival at the airport. As we drove along I looked out at the familiar scenery as if I was seeing it for the first time. It felt good to be back home. Spring was falling into Summer so the air was humid and hot. This would be a good day for a swim which reminded me of a long ago promise Duel had made me. Turning toward him I hummed. "Seems someone wasn't good on a promise ".

With a bit of confusion Duel asked. "Oh yea, and what was that?"

"Once upon a time you promised me a swim in your grandparents pool". I accused 

Smiling, he spoke. "We will be there soon and you will have your swim Melon".

A edge of bitterness along with jealousy seeped in as I recalled why I never received that swim in the first place. Before I could control my tongue the words flew out. "Had you not have gallavanted off to New York to aid Zoe I would have had my swim".

Instantly I noticed a change in Duel's body language. His once relaxed form seemed to stiffen and he exhaled a deep breath. Without sparing me a glance he retorted. "Yes, I know lying to you and doing what I did was messed up. Trust me, it seems you along with my Pape I'll never live it down but I've explained myself and apologized many time's and I don't know what else I can do to make you see that I own my mistake."

Feeling somewhat guilty yet wanting to argue I chose to remain mute. It's hard to explain but something inside of me just wanted to push his button's.  Yes, we had small, cutesy tifts in the past but I've never seen Duel completely lose his temper on me. A part of me needed to know if he could truly hurt me if inangered. I mean after all I know he's this born killer now so could he ever turn on me? "But you did marry her". I caught myself mumbling.

Duel's knuckles turned white as he tightend his grip on the steering wheel. "And I explained it wasn't out of love. It was of convince. You can either choose to trust me and move on or dwell on this".

"Didn't happen to you". I huffed out. I just couldn't stop myself. 

Suddenly the car lurched to a stop in the middle of the busy highway.  Car tires could be heard screeching to a stop trying to avoid a collision. Horns honked as car's zoomed by us irritated at the sudden block in traffic. I gripped my chest in a panic. "What are you thinking? You could have caused us to crash. You can't keep sitting here in the middle of the road". I stated the obvious.

Gone was the relaxed Duel as he leaned toward me. "I'm aware it didn't happen to me Chelly.  I'm aware that I'm to blame. And I could give two shits about being in this road. Fuckers can go around.  However I think this attitude in you is about much more than Zoe. If I didn't know better I'd sat that you're trying to make me mad. You want to see how far you can push me, if I'll hurt you or worse. Hate to disappoint you but you can't ever make me hurt you. So stop this nonsense and fix your face." He growled as he spun back into traffic.

Ok, so I guess I have an answer but could I believe that? Anyways I decided to let it go for now because a new idea popped into my head. Call me insane if you want but I needed to know the real Duel. I needed to know the side of him he never allowed me to see. I needed to know that person as well in all area's to see if I can withstand this new lifestyle.  It was time to push his limits in all area's.

Once at his grandparents home I slid from the car. As he was gathering a bag from the back seat I saddled up close to him and spoke with amusement. "Remember when we first met and how you chased after me?"
