I was awaken by the sound of tapping right next to my ear. Shifting my head towards the noise, I slightly opened my eyes-
“Holy shi-” I jumped, falling off the chair I slept on. Behind the glass a pigeon tapped on my window. I have always been terrified of these birds since I was a child, their red eyes constantly watching me. Ever since I was in grade school, they were always on the playground and on the fences watching.
Now here was one looking into my apartment with its bloody eyes. I picked up one of my couch pillows and threw it at the window.
“Well that didn't help much,” I muttered as the bird made two steps to the right.
Slowly I walked towards the glass and looked over the pigeon and out onto the street. Jeff's car was gone. So much for being a watch guard.
“I need to start and investigation or something,” I made my way to the washroom discarding my sweatshirt throwing it into the laundry basket as I entered.
“Or maybe set up security cameras or something around my apartment,” I negotiated with myself while showering.
Him visiting Raimondo could be understandable, I mean considering their friendship. But what didn't settle with me is the fact that he signed in as if he was visiting me when he wasn't. Does Raimondo even know that this Jeff guy is visiting him? I mean he only visits him during sleeping hours. I ruled out the idea that they may be a couple, so what is it then?
I looked in the mirror and talked to my reflection, “maybe if I ask him-”
My facial expression told me I was a complete idiot for even thinking about letting him know that I knew about his “visit”.
“No?” I asked my reflection after plucking a few strands of misplaced hair from my eyebrows.
“Ugh,” I growled at the face staring back at me. “Can't you think of something!” I screamed at it. Getting no response, I made my way to my room with a towel around my body and another on my hair. I grabbed a t-shirt from my drawer and my Roxi Kai trouser jeans. After getting dressed I made sure all my books were in my bag. I don't know how I always manage to fill this bag up with garbage, it's like Torn PaperVil-
That's it.
I emptied my bag from all the loose papers inside. Folding two I place one between the crack of my bedroom door, and one between the crack of my bathroom door. If Jeff or anyone for that matter comes and goes through my apartment, I'd know. I mean the man does pick a lock quicker than anyone I know. I don't even think I know how to pick a lock. I'll youtube that later.
I grabbed my bag with another fold of paper to place over the hinge of the main door. Out in the hall I struggled a little with placing this fold of paper because of the frame covering the cracks. After a couple of seconds of struggling, I finally managed to do it.
I pulled out my phone. 7:30. I should thank that bird for waking me up so early and maybe feed it? Debating with myself about the bird and it's reward, I regretted not wearing something thicker as soon as I stepped out into the morning breeze.
The sun was slowly making its way higher into the sky. The beauty of the morning sun has always sparked my interest. I stared up into the sky more than once... by the time I made it to school grounds I was practically blind. Some people would consider it odd... what you've never seen the sun before?!?
I giggled at the thought of someone observing me smiling at the shining sun. They'd probably place me under the same category of a crazed scientist, or natures freaks.
I jumped on the elevated cement framing a row of trees and the brick sign of Athens High. I walked, balancing my footing on the thin frame. Two years ago a senior did this and twisted his ankle. How he managed to twist his ankle was beyond me, but maybe today I'll be lucky and break something. I was dreading school more and more. If Jeff turns out to be some kind of mysterious freak, I'm going to have to find another prom date.

Chick-LitInstead my attention was focused on who I saw seated in the restaurant. His eyes were on the screen in the corner of the room. I knew that because my gaze used to be directed in that direction while I mopped the floors at night. Without warning, he...
