He chuckled. Any sign of him willing to talk vanished from his face.
"Are we getting married?" he asked.
I shook my head. "No."
A split second of embarrassment engulfed me, then I felt my anger rise. Not because he didn't seem like he was going to tell me anything. But because he made me feel foolish for assuming that we are on those grounds. Grounds that entitled me to ask him about himself.
Just as I was about to rephrase and ask him a question that had more to do with me and my current situation and less to do with him, he spoke again.
"Then who I am is none of your concern." He brushed back a strand of my hair. "Ok?"
I unwrapped the cloth angrily.
"What are you doing?" His eyes went wide. Jeff tried to stop me but I wouldn't let him.
"Don't touch me." I gave him a menacing look.
My expression didn't faze him. Jeff grabbed my wrists and held them tightly. "Stop." He ordered.
"Let me go Jeff." I tried to break free of his grasp. At first I couldn't but when I managed to finally break free, I went to remove the rest of the cloth.
"You're being childish." He tried to stop me again. Without thinking, I smacked him across the face.
We both stopped.
Jeff made the first move. He pinned my hands to either side of the car seat. Half standing, he leaned in so that his lips were barely touching my ears. My heart was pounding in my ears and his breathing was just as raspy as mine.
"Do that again... I will find Raimondo... and I will. kill. him." he murmured. His breath brushed against my skin. I didn't know if that or what he said sent shivers through my body.
Seeing that I wasn't planning on responding, his grip loosened but he remained in the same position. He was so close that I felt heat radiating off of his body.
"Now," he continued. I tried very hard to slow the thumping in my ear so I can hear him properly. "I will rewrap what you just unwrapped."
I nodded. "If you decide to take it off, I will make sure..." he backed away from me and stared down the top half of my body. "I will make sure to remove it all."
I felt my face heat up making him smirk.
"Has anyone ever told you that you look sexy when you blush."
Although I very badly wanted to slap him across the face again, I couldn't. For Raimondo's sake. So I pushed him away.
"Leave me alone Jeff."
He sat back on the drivers seat and kept forward. Turning his head to face me, he smiled. "They're here."
I was confused. Who's here? Just as I was about to ask him the question I heard sound coming from the other side of the truck. A few seconds later, someone started the engine and began to drive the truck with us in it.
"Jeff. Who's driving this truck?"
Head laid back against the seat, he turned to face me and smiled. "That is the question."
Moments later he began to talk again. I found the silence more appealing though.
"You know, I was really starting to like you." He confessed.
"But then I realized how much you loved Raimondo, which is really strange to me considering the fact that you two have never had a constructive conversation." he pointed out. "I mean, you have more history with me than you do with him. Yet you are as attracted to him as a bee to honey."
I kept my eyes forward and made it seem like I was not paying him any attention. But he did have a point. Why was I attracted to him? Maybe the mysteriousness of him...
"Why is that?" Jeff finally asked the question he was running around the bush to get to.
"Why is what?"
"Why are you so attracted to a man you know nothing about?"
I smiled. "Unless we are getting married, who I'm attracted to is none of your concern." I mimmicked him.
He smirked shaking his head. "I'll admit, that was well deserved."
"Where are we going?" I asked after a long pause.
"I don't know. Canada. Ohio. Georgia... LA." he stretched the last one.
"Not funn-"
"Do you want us to stop?" he interrupted.
I looked at him, for some reason it felt like that was supposed to be a trick question.
"If you want us to stop all you have to do is say the word. Do you want us to stop."
Should I answer him. I mean what's the worst thing that could happen?
I gave him the slightest nod.
Without another word, he opened the car door and climbed out. I watched him from the rearview mirror as he opened the trunk.
"What are you doing?"
Ignoring me, he collected something from the back and then shut the trunk. He came around to my side and smiled.
"Remember, you asked for it."
I frowned anticipating his next move. He extended his arm upward towards the roof of the truck. What was he doing? Leaning towards the window I looked up to see something glint in his hand. Just as I realized what he was holding. Shots were fired.
One second the truck was moving at a steady pace, the next second it came to a shreiking hault.
Jeff made his way to the back of the truck. I opened the car door on the passenger side. "Jeff what are you going to do?" I called after him as I was trying to climb out and follow him.
Everything else happened too fast for me to see. The truck door was lifted, 3 rounds were shot, and a grunt followed by a thud ended the noise.
"Jeff." I dragged my self towards the noise. "What did you-"
I stopped, one arm holding my self up against the wall of the truck and another on my stomach. In front of me stood Jeff, and beside him on the cemented road lay a dead man who must have been the truck driver.
Jeff looked up to meet my gaze. He smiled, "hold on tight." Before I can protest, Jeff reached up for the handle to the rear door and slammed it down hard.
"Wait, No!" I called after him stumbling towards the locked rear door. "Jeff dont lock me in here."
