When I heard the engine of the vehicle fade, I crawled out. Wasting no time, I darted into the bathroom and gathered everything I thought was important. The duffelbag fit everything I needed. Looking at the things Jeff brought with him, it was clear that he was preparing himself for the worst.

I grabbed the iPhone from inside the duffelbag and dialed Meriç's number. He immediately picked up.

"Audrie?"

"Yeah, listen plan's still on. Meet me in 12."

I watched enough of these action films to know that when you're on the run and you're using a phone that could possibly have a tracking device on it the safest thing to do is keep all less than 30 seconds.

So distracted with fleeing, I did not even realize that I was not dressed appropriately. I rummaged through the cabinets in the bathroom and the only thing I found was the shirt Jeff was wearing when I stabbed him. He had washed it and hung it over the pole holding the shower curtain.

It was not completely dry, but it had to do. I pulled it on and grabbed the bag. Dropping the bag onto the wooden floor, I dragged it out of the door.

I wondered, if I called the proper cab company what would the chances of Raimondo picking me up be?

Very low I presumed.

Outside the sun made me squint. It felt like years since I last seen the sun. I've been sitting in darkness for a while now. I almost felt like a vampire.

Dragging the bag with my left hand and using my right hand to cover my eyes from the sun, I searched the lot for the car Jeff came in. I was certain that sometime he drove the SUV out of the truck and used that to get here.

But the SUV was nowhere to be seen.

Dammit. This is going to be one hell of a set back.

Kneeling down, I unzipped the duffel bag and removed the 9mm from inside. I didnt know how to use it. I didnt know if it were loaded. I didn't even know if it were real. But all that really didn't matter. What mattered was that it looked like a gun, and if it can pass for a dangerous weapon then I will be capable of finding someone who will take me where I wanted without asking any questions.

I made my way to the entrance of the lot and waited for the first car to roll in. To my luck I didn't have to wait very long. A stationwagon signaled that it was going to enter the lot. I waited for the proper moment and waved for the driver to stop. She was a fat woman with short hair. Before she was able to roll down the windows all the way, I looked to see if the locks to the back door was up or not.

I didn't even wait for her to speak. They were unlocked, I grabbed the handle of the door and threw my duffel bag in.. well Jeff's bag. Hopping in after it, I ignored her protests until I was well seated and the door was shut.

"Listen to me, and listen to me very carefully." I slipped the gun onto her side.

She gasped and straightened up. When I finally managed to get her quiet and calm.

I instructed her to drop me off at the destination Meriç was to meet me. A part of me felt so very bad for frightening this poor woman, but the other part didn't really give a shit. If doing what I was doing now can make sure that I didn't see my mother today, then no I really didn't care.

She reversed quicker than I can make out the driver in the Cadillac behind us. But I knew that car. It was my mother. Without signaling she made quick turns and sped towards the place I first met Meriç.

"Thank you so much." I called from behind the stall where I was getting into fresh clothes.
