My eyes shot open as a loud sound wakes me from my light sleep. The noise buzzed around the room. I groaned and placed a pillow over my head to block the noise but it was no use. The noise would get louder the closer, whatever was making the sound, got to my window.
I sat up, stretched , and looked around the room to see if i can find an alarm or my phone to see what time it was. I reached over to the night stand and gripped my phone, turning it over so I could see the screen. It was about eight in the morning.I placed my phone back down in its original spot and rolled out of bed. With a yawn, I walked over to my bedroom window and drew back the white curtains.
I scanned my front yard and found that a kid-looked to be about 13- was mowing our lawn. The boy moved once again up the yard and close to my window. He must have felt my gaze because he looked up. I gave him a small wave, which he replied to with one back, and I stepped away from the window. I closed the curtains, as I was about to get dressed.
After I was done getting dressed and getting ready for the day, I left to go find something to eat in the kitchen. The kitchen was nice but nothing too exciting. It was modern and the type of kitchen you would imagine for a wealthy CEO.
I reached up into one of the cabinets and grabbed a glass bowl before moving to the pantry to get the cheerios. I grabbed a spoon, the milk and moved to sit at the table. I poured my cereal in first and then the milk because I am not a monster. I began to read the back of the cereal box for entertainment as I had forgot my phone upstairs.
"Good morning princess. Why are you reading the cereal box," I dropped the box and snapped my head to the right to see my father. He looked the same as I last saw him. His dark hair nicely styled, his face shaved and clean, and his suit nice and sharp. He looked as if he's never had a bad day in his life. Of course that isn't true but he could pretend it is if he'd like.
"Dad," I stand up from my seat and meet him to give him a hug. "I didn't expect to see you this morning since you didn't come home last night. I thought you were still at the office."
He muttered an apology and pulls back from me. "Things got busy yesterday and I ended up having to stay the night at the office. You know how things get. I'm sorry. How are you?"
"I'm fine. It's really nice to see you though. I missed you." I walked back to my seat to sit and finish my cereal. I did miss my dad but I couldn't help but be a bit irritated with him.
"I missed you too. I'm so glad your mother agreed to let you come live here,"He started to make some coffee and turns to me while he waits. "Do you like the house?"
"Yes, it's different but a good different. It's really beautiful, " I answered.I watched as he poured his black coffee into a mug that said Worlds Best Boss.
"I chose this house because I thought it would be comfortable for you kids. I'm not here all the time so it's important that someone enjoys the house. If I'm being honest, this is more your's and Drew's house."
"And Cassie's,"I finished my cereal and placed my bowl in the sink. I leaned on the counter next to my father. "You kept your engagement a secret from me. You know it's a bit harsh to keep that information from your daughter. Sad I had to find out from my brother instead of my dad and a year later."
"I was scared for your reaction," He sipped his coffee. I go to respond but was cut off due to his phone beginning to ring. "I have to go, we will talk about this later." He answered the phone and checked his watch. With no goodbye, he walked out of the kitchen and out of the front door.
"That man, always on the phone and always leaving without a word."
Cassie came into the kitchen with a basket of laundry and what looked to be a novel. She noticed my silence.
