I woke up the next morning feeling wide awake. I haven't slept that good in a long time! The memories from last night started to flood back. You'd think with that I'd have trouble sleeping. I remembered that Noah had slept here.
I look around my room to find that he was gone. I felt my mood slightly go down. I was hopping he would be here when I woke up.
I decide I should take a shower. I felt gross. I grab all I needed and head into the bathroom. I undress and hop in.
After about 20 minutes, I finish and head back into my room. When I walked into my room, I found Noah sitting on my bed with a bag. "Hey." I smile.
He looks up and smiles when he sees me. "Hey, I brought you something to eat." He opens the bag and hands me a sandwich from our local deli.
"Thank you." I take it and sit next to him.
"Thank you for last night. You didn't have to stay with me." I say.
He shakes his head,"I wanted to stay." For some reason, his words make my stomach fill with butterflies. He wanted to stay with me?
We both stayed silent. We both didn't really know what to say. The silence was broken when Noah's phone went off. He read the caller I.d and quickly answers it.
I watch his face every time he gets a call. He never looked happy.
"Hey, I'm kind of- can't it wa- fine I'll be there shortly." He ends the call and let's out a long sigh. " I have to go." He gets up. For some reason I didn't want him to go.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"My friends and I have some business to take care of." Business to take care of? That doesn't sound suspicious at all.
"Can I come?" I really wanted to get out of this house. I don't want to see my brother or Marco.
"I don't think that's a very good idea. You wouldn't be able to come in with me, you-" I cut him off.
"I'll stay in the truck! Please, I really want to get out of here." I beg. He stays silent. He looks like his trying to make a decision but can't decide. After a couple of seconds he finally answers.
"Fine, but you cannot leave the truck understand. My friends aren't the best people and I don't want you to get hurt." I nod and grab a jacket. "I won't leave the truck, I promise. Now let's go."
We pull up to a sketchy building. Why would his friends meet here? "Okay, I'll be back in about 20. Keep the doors locked." He gets out. Now I'm alone.
I scroll through Instagram on my phone. "How do they blend their eyeshadow like that!" I talk to myself.
A tap on the window makes me jump. I look to see Jocelyn. What is she doing over here? I unlock the door and she hops in the truck. "Hey!" She greets.
"What are doing on this side of town?" I ask.
"Uh well umm. Let's not talk about that, let's talk about you being in Noah's truck. Is there something going on between you two?" She smirks.
My cheeks heat up at the thought of Noah and I together. "N-no we are just friends." I say.
"Oh what happened to hating each other?" She raises her eyebrow.
" I-I don't know. We just stopped I guess. I think we are friends now." I smile at the thought of us being friends. "It's like it changed over night. I'm really hoping it stays like this."
"That's great. No more arguing then. I wonder what made him change all the sudden. Maybe he actually likes you."Joc smirks.
"W-what?"
"I mean think about it. He's all nice now that you're not with Marco. He could have been jealous." She still has a smirk on her face.
"He's hated me since he met me. You're telling me he just so happened to start liking me the moment he saw me?"
"It's possible and I bet you like him too."
"What, of course I don't. I've only known this side of him for a few days." I can't tell if I'm lying or not.
"Mmhm, sure." Joc says obviously not believing me. Her phone starts to ring. "Oh look, it's your lover!" She says before answering the phone.
"Hello? Just talking to your girlfriend." My eyes widen. Did she really just say that to him? I can hear Noah faintly. I heard him say I'm not his girlfriend which kind of made me sad. Wait, stop! I don't like him.
"Where is it. Okay. Oh I see it, got it. I'll be in, in a sec. Okay bye." She grabs a brown bag from the back seat. "I'll see you later. We should go shopping or something." She says goodbye and heads in to the building.
I couldn't help but wonder what was in the bag. What are my friends hiding from me?
I go back to my scrolling through instagram. I was starting to get bored. I switch over to twitter and retweet random things that catch my interest. Noah said 20 minutes. That turned into forty and then forty turned into an hour and a half. What could he possibly be doing?
I loud bang catches my attention. I peak out the window to see where the noise came from. My eyes widen as I see two men come out of a building. One had the other by the shirt and I squeeze my eyes shut as the dude goes to throw his fist. Oh my god. What is happening? Are Noah and Jocelyn okay?
I sink down into my seat and keep my eyes closed. Moments later I hear the truck door open. I gasp and sit up.
"Emmie, you okay?"
Noah looked at me questionably. I scanned him over to see if he has any cuts or anything.
"Me," I say as a question. "What about you? Are you okay?" He furrows his eyebrows in confusion.
"I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"
I look back out the window to see where those guys were. They were both gone by now.
"It's nothing. Can we leave now?"
