It was the second day of school and I was lost. The boy's had morning practice and left early so I went to school this morning alone. The halls looked all the same and I had trouble finding my way around. Where's Aaron when you need him.
I trudged slowly down the hall by myself. I'd pass a door and think through there was my class but I ended up wrong most of the time. I had been going in circles and felt hopeless. That was until I saw a tall boy in front of me. I recognized him immediately. I felt a slight fear and nervousness arise in my throat but I swallowed it down. I needed to ask him for help or else I was going to end up late for class.
"Noah," I called and the boy ignored me.
I knew he heard me because his shoulders had tensed up. He continued walking forward and I chased after him. I called his name once again and received the same response as before, nothing. I had caught up to him and without thinking, I reached forward and grabbed his wrist. I gasped as the boy turned at light speed and yanked away from me. My eyes widened at the glare he gave me.
"What do you want," He growled. "Don't ever touch me again."
"I'm sorry," I apologized. "Can you help me find my class? I'm lost and I've been looking for this room-"
"No," He answered bluntly.
My mouth opened slightly in shock as I watched him turn his back to me. He said no with no reason. That didn't sit well with me. It's not liked I asked for a big favor. In anger I walked back up to him and grabbed his wrist again.
"What the hell did I say about touching-"
"Come on, Noah. All I'm asking is for you to take a small second to show me where I need to be."
"Don't touch me," he snarled and stepped back. "Go find someone else to bother."
"Seriously," I scoffed. "You won't help me?"
He shook his head. "I said no. What part isn't clicking? Go find Marco or something. He's your boyfriend ins't he?"
I noted the way my boyfriends name sounded from Noah's lips. He spat Marco's name out like it was poison. Instantly, my brain went through different reasons as to why Noah spoke the way he did. Had Marco done something to him or the other way around? He must dislike him and probably my brother as well.
I took his advice and looked for my boyfriend around the halls. He should have came in from practice. I walked down each hallway and studied the faces I pasted. I spotted Marco leaning against a red locker in the math hallway. He was talking to someone from the football team. I hoped I didn't have to interact with his teammate. I walked behind my boyfriend and grabbed the sleeve of his grey hoodie. I tugged lightly to get his attention.
"Babe," I called quietly.
He turned his head to the right and looked down at me. I expected a smile or even a small hug but he did nothing. His face was dull and he looked as if I had the wrong person. I ignored the feeling of disappointment from his reaction and asked him for help.
"Can you help me find my class," I gave him a small smile in hoped to get one back. "I'm lost."
The football player, I recognized as Marco's friend Brandon, chuckled and pat Marco on the shoulder.
"I'll see you around man. Looks like your girlfriend needs you," He smirked and walked away.
I moved my attention back to Marco and saw that he looked angry. He reached down and gripped my hand before pulling me down the hallway. His grip was tight and I didn't like it. I tried to pull my hand out of his grasp but he just tightened his grip.
