Scarlett
The Blackwood estate had never been this chaotic. Laughter echoed through the grand halls, the scent of freshly baked cookies filled the air, and the distant sound of little feet running across the polished marble floors made my heart melt.
"Alexander!" I called out, balancing a squirming bundle in my arms. Our two-year-old daughter, Alina Blackwood, was in full tantrum mode— her tiny fists gripping my dress as she wiggled in protest. "Your daughter is refusing to take a bath. Again."
Alexander appeared in the doorway, leaning casually against the frame, his sleeves rolled up, his expensive watch glinting under the chandelier light. His lips curled into that signature smirk — the one that made my heart race even now.
"Our daughter," he corrected smoothly, stepping closer. "And why exactly does she not want to take a bath?"
Alina, sensing her father’s presence, turned her big, mischievous eyes toward him and pointed an accusatory finger. "Daddy said I don’t need to!"
I blinked. My head snapped toward Alexander, and he had the audacity to look amused.
"Alexander Blackwood," I narrowed my eyes, "tell me you didn’t just bribe our daughter to avoid bath time."
His lips twitched. "I might have… suggested an alternative activity."
I stared at him, unimpressed. "What. Activity?"
He crouched down to Alina’s level, ruffling her soft brown curls. "I told her she could have ice cream instead."
"Ice cream?" I echoed, my mouth falling open. "At—" I glanced at the clock. "Eight in the morning?"
Alina nodded eagerly, her little arms wrapping around Alexander’s neck as she clung to him like a baby koala. "Daddy said yes."
"Oh, did he?" I crossed my arms. "Well, Mommy says no."
Alina pouted dramatically, turning to her father for support. "Daddy, tell Mommy she’s being mean."
Alexander lifted his gaze to me, his blue eyes twinkling with amusement. "Now, now, Scarlett. You don’t want our daughter thinking her father is powerless in this household, do you?"
I let out a slow, deep sigh. "Oh, trust me, she already thinks you’re some kind of superhero."
Alexander smirked. "I am a superhero." Then, as if to prove his point, he hoisted Alina up effortlessly and spun her around, making her giggle uncontrollably.
"See, Mommy?" she shrieked between laughs. "Daddy can fly me!"
I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Fantastic. Not only do I have to be the villain in this family, but now I also have to clean up the sugar rush aftermath."
Alexander set Alina down carefully before straightening, closing the distance between us in slow, deliberate steps. "You’re not the villain, sweetheart," he murmured, his fingers trailing down my arm. "You’re the queen."
I arched a brow. "A queen who gets ignored when she says ‘no ice cream’?"
His smirk deepened. "A queen who’s far too tempting when she gets all bossy." His fingers brushed against my waist, and just like that, my heart betrayed me, pounding wildly in my chest.
I swallowed. "Alexander, our daughter is right here."
Alina, completely unaware of the growing tension between us, was now preoccupied with her stuffed bunny.
Alexander leaned in, his lips a breath away from my ear. "Then you’d better keep your voice down, Mrs. Blackwood."
My breath hitched. "You are impossible."
"And you," he murmured, his lips ghosting over my jaw, "are ridiculously beautiful when you’re trying to act mad at me."
I groaned, pushing at his chest playfully. "I hate you."
He chuckled, gripping my wrist and pulling me against him. "No, you don’t."
I looked up at him, unable to suppress my smile. "Okay, maybe a little less than before."
Alina suddenly tugged at my dress, looking up at us with wide eyes. "Are you and Daddy gonna do that kissy thing again?"
Heat rushed to my face. "What?"
Alexander, the menace that he was, only grinned. "Why, sweetheart? Do you want to see Mommy and Daddy kiss?"
Alina nodded enthusiastically. "Yes!"
I gawked at my husband. "Do not encourage her!"
He only laughed, lifting our daughter into his arms while pressing a slow, teasing kiss to my temple. "Fine. I’ll save all the kisses for later, when someone isn’t looking."
I narrowed my eyes at him, but before I could retort, Alina placed her tiny hands on my cheeks and pressed a wet, exaggerated kiss on my nose. "I kissed you first, Mommy!"
Alexander smirked. "Guess I have competition now."
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t stop my heart from swelling with love. My life— our life — was chaotic, loud, and filled with endless banter, but it was also perfect.
And as I looked between the man I loved and our daughter, I knew — this was the happiest ending I could have ever asked for.

Author’s Note
So, we can say it's a little reunion...haha. I thought I had closed the chapter on Veiled Obsession, but some characters never really leave you, do they? I found myself missing Alexander and Scarlett — their fiery banter, stolen kisses, and the kind of love that lingers long after the last page. So, I decided to bring them back, even if just for a little while.
Writing this felt like stepping into a familiar warmth, like visiting old friends after a long time. I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into their happily ever after as much as I loved creating it. Maybe one day, we’ll meet them again. Until then, let’s keep their story alive in our hearts.
With love,
Briee <3
