Scarlett
The office had never looked so stunning. Every corner of the room was bathed in soft, warm lights, the elegant decorations accentuating the grandeur of the occasion. As I stepped inside, I couldn’t help but pause and take it all in. The air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers, and the rich hues of the decor made everything feel almost dreamlike. It was hard to believe that this was the same office I walked into every day. Today, it felt magical, like something out of a fairy tale.
I was so lost in the beauty around me that I almost didn’t notice two of my favorite people running toward me, their faces lit up with excitement. Lily and Ben were both beaming as they approached, each holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Scarlett!" Lily exclaimed, her voice bubbling with joy. "These are for you! Congratulations!"
"Yeah, you really deserve it, Scarlett," Ben added, handing me his bouquet. "You’ve done so much for all of us here."
I took the flowers, my heart swelling with affection for these two. "Thank you so much, both of you," I said, my voice soft with emotion. "You have no idea how much this means to me."
Just as I was about to say more, I felt a familiar presence behind me. Before I could turn around, Emily's voice cut through the moment. "Scarlett, you shouldn’t be thinking about me now," she teased lightly. "You should be wondering where Alexander is."
I couldn’t help but blush at her words. She always knew how to catch me off guard. "Emily," I said, trying to suppress the warmth spreading across my cheeks, "once again, thank you. It’s because of you that the misunderstanding got cleared up. I don’t know how to repay you."
Emily waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, it was nothing. I just did what any friend would do," she said with a wink.
I smiled at her, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. Emily had been there for me during one of the toughest times of my life, and now here we were, celebrating together. It felt surreal.
As I glanced around the room again, I couldn’t help but admire the decorations once more. Every detail was perfect, from the floral arrangements to the shimmering lights. It was clear that someone had put a lot of thought into making this day special.
Emily nudged me playfully. "You know, it was Alexander who personally checked all the decorations," she said with a knowing smile. "He wanted everything to be perfect for you."
My heart skipped a beat at her words. Alexander had always been meticulous, but knowing that he had done all this for me made it feel even more special. My eyes began scanning the room, searching for him amidst the crowd.
And then I saw him.
He was standing across the room, engaged in conversation with a few guests, but his eyes met mine as soon as I spotted him. My breath hitched in my throat. He looked impeccable, his suit tailored to perfection, his presence commanding and irresistible. He was like a fine wine, only getting better with time.
The ceremony was in full swing now, with people moving around, mingling, and giving speeches. The atmosphere was lively, filled with a mix of admiration and respect for Alexander and the company he had built. But my attention was solely on him, the man who had become such an integral part of my life.
I was still trying to process everything when Alexander stepped up to the microphone. His voice resonated through the room, calm and confident, drawing everyone’s attention. He started talking about the company's journey, the challenges they had faced, and the incredible team that had helped him get to where he was today.
As he spoke, my eyes stayed glued to him, feeling a mix of emotions that I couldn’t quite describe. When he began talking about me, I felt my cheeks flush with warmth again. Alexander's words were filled with so much appreciation and respect. He spoke of how I had become an integral part of the company and his life, someone he relied on and trusted deeply.
